Don’t know, bro, this always worked for me...

I’ve played a handful of Martins and I’m honestly surprised you’re looking for anything else. As far as acoustics I think that Taylors are pretty good.

Electric..I’ve personally always wanted a Fender Tele for some reason. Looking into getting one soon.

1969 Fender Stratocaster, original pick-ups, maple neck, strung upside down for a left-handed motherfucking genius, Jimi Hendrix.

High end Martins are really nice, but there are many other quality acoustics out there. If you're talking higher price points, there are many, in my opinion, better than most Martins... Boucher, Santa Cruz, Goodall, Lowden, Borgeois, etc...

Also, Guilds are also really nice for the same price point or less than a Martin. I have a Martin HD28v and several Guilds including an Orpheum and a D55. The Martins and Guilds have different sound signatures but it is incredibly difficult to decide which is better. In my mind, they are fairly equal.

Taylors are also great, but I'm focusing on Guilds because they have a more similar sound signature to a Martin than Taylors do as Taylors are very modern sounding.

I know we have a handful of guitar players here. What acoustics do you guys have or recommend? I've been pretty brand loyal to Martin for my acoustics but I'm not opposed to trying something else like a Taylor or something. Would like to stay under $2k.

This is what I had before and sold it when I moved(000-15m). Might just buy the same one again but figured I'd see if anyone recommends something different.

All week, I've been posting the same recommendations and comments as other people and posting right after them. Its weird.

Avalons and Lowdens are both nice, but out of his price range.
Id forgotten I played a Lowden once. My buddy's, iirc cost him 3k usd way back then.
Glad I forgot, otherwise I might have spent that money.
Im happy with my solid Taylor.
A Baby Taylor is a great budget acoustic guitar as well!
Magical sound.

Yeah, I like Taylors too. Lowdens are great too for more money. If you want try a guitar which, in my opinion, is the best of the modern sounding acoustics (like Taylors in Lowdens), try a Goodall sometime. They aren't cheap though.

Go Taylor bro
The guitarist in my band has a Taylor and its tone is pretty great but sounded sort of scooped to me and didn't project that well. Playability was tops though.

You ever try Blueridge as a cheaper option?

Blueridges aren't too bad. Played a couple in a local shop years ago and they were solid, but I wasn't blown away. Along the same lines are Eastman guitars. I have one (that I'm selling just because I have too many guitars) and it's really nice for the price. You can get a nice Eastman for around $1000, give or take, and they're nearly equal to a Martin although they have a more modern sound too.

Taylors are designed to be more modern sounding. All hog Taylors are more vintage sounding though and have a warmer sound.

i have absolutely no musical talent, i took music class in elementary school and played drums,i took a guitar class in college for 3 years i played piano when i was a kid i spent a month trying to play harmonica.

But i am good at a lot of other things.

Go on craigslist and get an old guitar and play a tune like a French Girl.

Really buy a used guitar. Plenty of idiots like me buy guitars and never play them.

BRB gonna go play Eve of Destruction

I don't know what area you live in, or a whole lot about guitars, but I do know my neighbor across the street is Gary Erickson, Erickson guitars. He is a Berkley engineer and has some of the most amazing patents and wood work. I get to meet some rock stars from time to time that come to pick up retrofitted guitars with his stuff. For instance, he uses industrial rubies for the bridges (patented), because they are near friction-less compared to the stainless steel others use. He also created the "Tone Hound" which is a device he puts on acoustic guitars to allow them to be electric too.

Anyways, his stuff is not cheap, but it's amazing (Huntington Beach, CA). If you are in this area, I could set up a meeting with the guy.

What does he use rubies for? The frets?

That M20 sounds like it might be my guitar. Prolly go to GC to play one this week and buy it if I like it.
