Yea, me too, I love all dogs but there are so many beautiful pitties trapped in cages or fucked up living situations that I will only ever get rescues whenever I get a new dog
I cant save them all, even though I wish I could, but I can do my best to give a few of them an amazing life and help them to forget their scars

Thats also why I'm constantly posting about my dogs on multiple forums, I dont blame anyone for their ignorant beliefs, but maybe I can help change one or two minds to take a chance on one of these precious souls and let them realize all the love and loyalty these pooches are made of

OFFICIAL GOTCHA DAY ONE YEAR UPDATE 2025


Welp, its now officially been one whole year since I rescued my beloved Roxie Sox from the dog pound and what a year its been!
Contrary to what some of you fucking idiots thought, not only did she not murder me but she has thrived!
She went on to win Sherdogs Official 2024 Pet Of The Year Award and she has made so many friends here in our neighborhood as we go on our daily walks, everyone loves her outgoing playful personality
When I got her she was so timid and scared of everything but now she is big and bold and full of self confidence!
She loves making new doggie friends and taking lots of naps between treats and snacks
So in conclusion, thank you to everyone that has shown Roxie love over this past year, we both really appreciate it

How the heck did this teeny tiny little cutie patootie that I rescued from the dog pound one year ago blossom into this big ole giant meathead moose that I got on my hands today

My dog (a smallish cattle dog) was mauled to death when I was a teenager. I also have a friend who attempted to stop one mauling a child and it dragged him to the ground and attacked him. He had tendons severed in his left arm (now only has partial use) and he lost an eye.
I've also seen a woman's upper arm basically degloved of skin as she walked past one on a footpath.
So I haven't just dropped out of a tree and made up some opinions.

Dogs are like people and can be damaged when young affecting their later behaviour. Taking one into your family home that could be damaged is not the same as raising it as a pup.

You may have a good record with them but I'm sure you'll agree not everyone is a good owner of this breed bred for maximum capabilities in fighting and killing.

Yeah I don't like them but I think people that rescue dogs are great. Some rescues turn out really well...some do not.

Besides, it is sherdog tradition to rag on pitbulls. Just remember many people do have personal experience with these dogs and some of the shitty irresponsible owners that are attracted to the breed.

They do attract shitty people as owners. But also they are more dangerous than most other breeds if they are somehow damaged, simply because of the tenacity for which they were bred. And on top of that, you just never know if something will trigger them. The same could be said of many other breeds. But my cairn terrier can’t rip a human in half if triggered.

I love all dogs and have a soft spot for pitty rescues. I am happy for you TS but more so for the dog you rescued.

That said i still believe the breed should simply be bred out of existence. Let them die out.

there simply is no question that they have a genetic default, that emerges from every X dogs, that leads it to kill humans and other animals at a rate far higher than other dog breeds. Why we would keep breeding them, knowing that simply because 'most of them will not kill', is beyond me.
