Longest you've waited for a job interview and ended up getting the job?

So I applied to three places so far for a part time job. 2 were around 3 weeks ago and 1 was like 4 days ago.

1 of the 2 I applied for 3 weeks ago emailed me notifying that I didn't get it; that's fine, I didn't really care for the job anyway.

The 2nd of the jobs I applied for a couple weeks ago I really want. I did an in person follow up a week after the I applied online just to introduce myself to the manager and give them a paper copy of my job resume. The manager wasn't in but I met with the assistant manager that said the manager was away and would be back.

Ok cool. 2 weeks passed and I called to see if the hiring manager has started looking over applications, someone other than the manager said he/she may start interviews this week. I said ok, thank you, and end of phone call. I'm still waiting but I'm eager as fuck to work and get some extra money.

What was the longest you guys waited and had success?

I'd call every here and there to see if the position has been filled. Not like a crazy dude, but to keep yourself fresh in their minds. I just think waiting for a month to hear anything is crazy.

a couple of months, I applied and got an email saying we need you to fill out some forms. I would fill out the required forms and then weeks would pass until I heard something. I think I called HR 3 or 4 times asking if I had the job or what was going on as I had not received a start date or anything about my background check was good etc. I applied November and started the job in February.

best of luck to you TS

Applied in November, Interviewed in Jan, Hired in February, Didn't Get Paid until March.

If it is a big commpany that is not well organized it could take months.

I once got a Job offer three months after my final interview.

I already assumed I got rejected but I got a call one afternoon saying I got hired.

3 months is also the longest, although i actually ended up not getting it. after 2 weeks i emailed the main secretary for word on the job, she didn't get back to me. a month passes, i again send an email with no response. so i figured they didn't want me and that was that.

then another month later, i get an email and phone call simultaneously (and urgently) asking if i was still interested in the position. i say yes (because it was a good job) and that i am absolutely interested. secretary tells me great, i'll be contacting you soon with further details. which i assume awesome, i got the job because that was basically "you got the job" talk without saying "you got the job." it was down to me and only 2 other guys, so i assumed their top pick probably bailed last second or something.

2 more weeks go by, i hear nothing. i email her, i get nothing back. i called her a few days later and left her a message on voicemail. no response.

then another 2 weeks go by, i get a generic email response saying they've decided to re-do interviews with more experienced people. no apology for the wait, no "sorry but thank you for your time," nothing. just a cold fuckin brush off. i'd like to say this kind of bumblefuckery was unusual, but i had about 4 or 5 jobs go like this in my life. makes me wonder how some people wipe their asses without smearing shit on their faces.

so maybe that's not the inspirational story to get you juiced for your interview or waiting for response for your interview, but at the very least that whatever you go through probably won't ever be as bad as what's happened to me. and if something does then you'll at least get a decent story out of it.

Lol damn bro.

Thanks for the share.

which i should also say, good luck and hope you get the job. nothing sucks more than waiting to hear about a job, especially when you need the money bad.

Interesting thread to come across. My wife's maternity leave ends in three weeks, and while she's got her job waiting for her to go back, she doesn't want to go back. So she's applied to a couple of postings over the past month and keeps asking me if it's possible that she may yet hear from one of them for an interview. It's a difficult balance of trying to keep her optimistic without leading her on.

It sucks a bit more when you need the money as well as you have nothing to do and the days are long and boring lol

Thanks man, hopefully I hear something this week.

I've filled out ROIs for jobs and done phone interviews to here nothing for the months, then get a phone call out of the blue asking me to start that week, but in saying this it's somewhat normal in my industry

Given the kind of work you seem to be applying for, I wouldn't expect them to be very well organized. When I was younger I got a retail job after a few weeks.

That said, their lack of organization often means that they take whoever is there at the moment they need somebody, and don't expect a call informing you of it.

Yea...

I was hoping that my follow up and persistence showing how much I want the job would give me an edge for the job type I applied for.

It's mostly filled with high school and college aged kids that usually just apply online and that's it.
