London MMA gym

I'm biased since Edu's my coach's coach but you can't go wrong at LSE. Edu is great coach and the BJJ guys there at least are really nice dudes who spar hard and push each other to be better at every session.

Cool, thanks mate. Will def pop down there to give it a try. Its a shame that a lot of the main classes there and in park royal start at 6 as that makes it a real struggle to get there even remotely on time! Edu seems to be class and see theres an extended on-gi on Tuesdays. Im gonna call to see if you can use both that one and park royal on the same membership as that might sway things!

This. The standard of grappling may not necessarily be up to scratch with Carlson Gracie academy and it is arguable that it isn't as high level as it was before Claudio Silva left to fight in the UFC, but it is still legit and operates via the same curriculum that Eddie Bravo manages.. Either way it IS legit, the wrestling coach is fantastic and the Muay Thai team is one of the best in the country. You're definitely better off there than in most places you'll find in London.

Cheers, that's encouraging to hear. Cliff seems really sound. Looks like it will be either here or LSE. Would you agree it seems like quality of instructors seems better overall at LSE? But then wonder about the relative class sizes. Will get over to both a couple of times more and see what its like. Any idea where Jamie Scott rolls to push him up to brown? Seems like he'd be struggling to find other 10th planet schools around London!

Ive done the wrestling a few times when I had time and I found them good but I dont really have the experience/knowledge to judge accurately. When theyre teaching takedowns for Gi BJJ the instruction is really good but that doesnt seem to be relevant to you.

The no-gi classes are good as well but theyre only on 2-3 times a week (barring lunch times).

Youre right on how its mostly a bjj gym that also does MMA, so if MMA is you focus then it might be better finding another gym, but Harnaik was right in that most gyms are either going to be great at grappling or great at striking

I didn't realise there were even as many 2-3 no-gi classes a week!

Ah cool, had a read on the website and the wrestling coach seems decent but yeah don't really have the experience to judge. Will head down there and take a look.

One thing I'm finding from a practical point of view is that it's probs best to go somewhere with a comprehensive schedule and some later classes as sometimes need to stay at work quite late!

again most of edu'd classes that don't start at 7.30pm have a split start times 6pm for beginners/7pm for mixed levels, that said most of his blues, purples and browns are there at 6pm. He also runs lunch time classes and does early morning privates

No idea to be honest, you'd wanna ask him yourself. Eddie Bravo oversees everything though, I was actually there when Jamie got his purple belt promotion. And yes, Cliff is awesome.

I think if you want MMA then in all honest LSE IS the place to be, but bare in mind that shootfighters IS more expensive and doesn't necessarily have the same quality of Muay Thai instruction. However LSE does have the benefit of sponsers if I remember correctly.

I would recommend doing a trial month at Diesel and TRY to train as many days during that month as you can, train Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu and wrestling each day. Then I'd say train at LSE for a month and see what works out being the most affordable and what you prefer.

Hey guys, I'm planning to move to London soonish (hopefully post Corona) so looking to restart this thread to see if much has changed since 2015. I'm looking for an MMA gym with good and active competition teams in MMA, BJJ and Muay Thai (by good I just mean regularly competing and having success at regional levels, doesn't need to be UFC ;) ). Good coaching and high level training partners as well. Ideally in Central/South/East but not too far out.

I know Shootfighters is the obvious choice but their West gym is too far away, anyone have any experience with their East branch?

Another one I've been looking at is London Fight Factory. Anyone trained their recently? I'm most attracted to this one as prefer smaller gyms with more of a tight knit atmosphere but wondering if the competition teams are good?

Which brings me on to Fightzone. A bit weary of this one as seems pretty huge and not sure what the vibes/coaching would be like but have heard good things about it. Anyone train there and know if the teams/atmosphere is good?

Finally is there any good gyms in South?

Cheers everyone

Try GymBox Farringdon they got Muay Thai, high level BJJ, Wrestling and when I was there 2 MMA classes taught by a pro fighter.

I do not think they have that many wrestling classes but when I was there it was quite good. I suck at Muay Thai so I cannot really talk about the skill level there.

Moved out of the UK which why I left

I have always wanted to train at Fightzone - IMO in terms of variety and value for money they can’t be beat in London.
