I understand that a lot of people around here like to preach about how much they love the technical aspect and other stuff, I love a good technical fight too, but fuck off if you didn't enjoy that fight and take the preachy bull elsewhere.
 
I like fights that get me fucking pumped. That was one of them.
 
Better than too much defense and nothing happening.

The thing is, both of those guys have plenty of skill in all areas.
They know 40 ways to tap you out, apiece. They couldn't establish control or dominance over each other, so it turned into a brawl, and Gilbert was better at that.
 
Are you fucking kidding me? You people really like seeing a guy in guard/half-guard throw pitter patter punches and elbows for 5 rounds than two guys going to toe-to-toe trying to finish each other? Fucking grappling obsessed clowns.
 
I am a fan who enjoys the best of both worlds

I love technical fights, even find guys like Fitch and Okami exciting.

But If you don't like that you have no damn pulse.
 
Maia vs Shieds was more technique , doesnt make it a better fight, That was a fight!!!

Gil had superior technique the whole fight, but Diego was some kind of android.
 
It was a fun, exciting fight.

In my opinion it wasn't fight of the year, it was too rock 'em sock 'em robot for me, but it was a good fight. Personally, I disqualify any fight where two guys just stand in front of each other and throw hay makers. It's exciting, sure, but it's bush league.

I'm not saying that's all this fight was, but they did it, which is why some people are so excited.

Still, fun and exciting fight.
