people talk about how its such a stacked division but in reality, most guys are gatekeepers and wont ever get to the title?

Lets see, who are the top guys right now in contention that you could make an argument that they could run for title or is good enough to?

- Rafael dos Anjso (The champ)

- Khabib Nurmagomedov (easily the best fighter in the division & should be champ, but always sidelined due to injury)

- Donald Cerrone (got a lucky decision win over Benson but will get beat by any non training partner who is a strong wrestler)

- Anthony Pettis (fights once every 5 years, got destroyed in his last fight, probably wont make another run for belt again as long as RDA and Khabib are in the div)

- Tony Ferguson (solid top contender, maybe 1 or 2 fight away from title shot, but lots of questions)

- Eddie Alvarez (meh, dont think hes good enough to fight for belt)

thats pretty much the top dogs... lol the division aint stacked at all

then u got ur gatekeepers or guys who will never be at the top like Beneil Dariush, Myles Jury, Edson Barboza.. can barely think of anyone else

SHALLOW DIVISION ALERT!

LOL, great post.:icon_lol:

well i aint joking

when u only got like 4 or 5 "top dogs" in the division, that aint shit

even heavyweight has the same or more and heavyweight is considered shallow

WHO is the best at HW?

-Werdum
-Cain
-Arlovski
-JDS
-Stipe
-Browne
-Barnett
-Rothwell
-Mir
-Fedor (if he signs, which is likely since bellator champ is his training partner)

lmao more serious contenders than LW div

benson said hes officially moving to 170 so hes not a lw anymore

johnson just lost a fight to beneil

diaz is trash

green is a gatekeeper at best

Dream on. Look at the guys' individual skill sets, they are some of the most athletic, dynamic, and well rounded in the sport.

A guy like Pettis who is that good of a striker and that dangerous off his back is basically unmatched in either welterweight or FW.

Johnny Hendricks was just champ at WW and look at the way he strikes compared to Pettis, Cerrone, RDA, Barboza, Johnson, etc. I don't think a guy wins the LW belt with striking and movement that limited.

unmatched?

didnt he get beat up on the ground by Guida? Didnt he get oustruck and mauled by RDA, who just like 11 months prior got outstruck and mauled by Khabib?

Wasnt he pretty much losing the first benson fight until the showtime kick gave him the 5th round?

nah man, pettis is not getting the belt again

You can't even spell the champions name right?

What an illiterate fool of a post.

WBW is the most stacked division which makes Ronda so much more impressive. Look at her last fight... She destroyed a straight up killer in Bethe. Bethe was an undefeated monster, she DESTROYED top contenders like Shayna and Duke, Bethe has legit one punch knock out power in both of her hands and has an extremely underrated ground game. If you were going to build a contender to beat Ronda you would come up with Bethe. Yet, Ronda defeated her biggest challenge yet like it was nothing. It surprising that people still doubt that she could beat male fighters, TJ would have no answers to her world class boxing and would get slaughtered on the ground.

Not in order but stacked to me.

Also, plenty of solid fighters outside the Top 15: Pearson, Poirier, Iaquinta, D. Cruickshank, Khabilov, J. Makdessi, Jim Miller...

TS is dumb, but LW is the premier MMA division IMO.

Gatekeepers are an important part of any division lightweights gatekeepers are evenly matched so rankings 5-20 can really jump around makes for a fun division outside of just the top 5 guys or so

Not to many questions about Ferguson. It's a great division. 20-40 is strong compared to other weights as well.
