Don't move the goalposts. Fish or cut bait. Can't you show me these innocent people who were just expressing legit concern about the number of immigrants/foreign students being too high and being called racists?

Years ago, I said I didn't like that Canadian universities are too heavily dependent upon foreign students and should take less of them. No one called me a racist. I would like to know what these people to whom you're referring said that prompted people to label them that way and what reason was given for it.

For you to whine about it, it must have been a really prevalent problem so examples ought to be abundant. Hop to it, now. Let's see what you've got so we can compare.

Personally I think a big issue with "woke" often is not that its politics are extreme but the way there delivered. I feel like the social politics of the mainstream dems are really very strong status quo with a thin mask of liberialism BUT delivered in a fashion which is intended to be as aggressive and partisan as possible.

It might seem a bit irrelevant(although honestly "cultural war" politics seem pretty big these days) but look at say the difference between the films Aliens and Captain Marvel. Which of those films is actually more progressive and left wing? its pretty clearly Aliens for me which pushes a female hero dealing with the excesses of corporate greed and male machismo in a parallel of Vietnam. Captain Marvel is actually very cosy with the US army and generally has little real weight to it BUT its a film made specifically to piss off a certain demographic, were as Aliens tries to convince its viewer of its politics, Captian Marvel rubs there noses in them, its annoying and snarky.

I feel that sums up the difference between the social politics of the mainstream dems and most actual progresses pretty well, the former are more interested in labelling their enemies and playing up conflict, there not actually very interested in significant change for the better.

I said Trudeau himself is white supremacist according to his own logic, not your logic. Doesn't look like you tapped into your logic very well while reading my post.

If you want evidence of people being called racist for opposing immigration, you have 9 years of word salad every time the issue was brought up in parliament. Pollievre pointing out the hypocrisy was a staple for years.

it all started happening right as the Occupy protests took off.

(disclaimer: i believe this theory) - it was deliberately orchestrated by the higher ups who own each of the large media companies in the USA. focus on race, racism, etc to take the heat off of the Occupy protests. Occupy was all about classism and getting more rights for American workers at the beginning. there were people from the left and right who went to those protests.
then you had news company hired ops who infiltrated these protests and started yelling about racism to shift the focus onto that issue towards the middle and end of the protests.
Megacorps and conglomerates cant have the unwashed masses uniting to demand better treatment. so, they deploy a classic "divide and conquer" strategy and shift the cultural onus onto race/racism and made that the central tenant of nearly every issue. the original message of the Occupy protests is lost and those protesters splintered off into other groups on the cultural left or right. its devious and underhanded and it fucking worked. (end theory)

to quote Empire of Dust, "it's all so tiresome....." 🫠

If I remember correctly, the gaggle of followers doubled down on this crap too, saying this was all in his past and he admitted it and apologized, etc. etc. Why do the chuds have to make such a big deal about it, yada. yada.
