Economy Let's talk gas prices

They're already replacing mining fleets.

I'm not saying everyone can buy one today.

If they can meet even 50% of peoples needs (probably near 75% already) then it's awesome.

They are already replacing heavy diesel equipment in underground mining operations.
Just because something is available doesn't mean it meets all demands or is a viable option. Tell struggling farmer Joe that he has to replace his 20 year old 1 ton 4x4 beater truck with a new EV he can't fix or keep running without proprietary software at a dealer miles away. Or the small business owner who has a small fleet of affordable Chevy vans. Or the struggling uni student running from class to work in a $1000 old Civic.

But they work for inner city yuppies and large conglomerates! Give me a break. You say you have Native family, right? Go to the nearest rez and preach to them the benefits of going electric. Lol.

We're a long, long ways away from making the switch. And once we do, the main polluters - military and the transportation industry will still be burning dino juice for decades to come.

Immortan Joe Biden in the Citadel with his hands on two levers - one marked "gas prices" and the other marked "throwing away energy independence" - deciding which one to pull first

We're so energy independent on Canadian oil.

I don't understand what you are so upset about?

I'm not saying the govt needs to confiscate everyone's gas powered engines. I'm excited that electrics are going to start phasing them out. Hopefully Farmer Joe's kids will be using electric vehicles...

Speaking of the price of gas, my quality of life would be better if ethereum doubled in price by the end of the year.

I'm not upset at all.

My point is to put some perspective into this conversation. For many people in many places going electric is an impossibility now and for the foreseeable future. That gets lost in the conversation all to often. Just because they're available that doesn't mean it's an option for many people. That's all. Not trying to come off as a dick..

Hope you fuck right off.

At least until someone can make a truck with the pulling power of a diesel. If not I have no use for one.
I guess you like paying more for damn near everything huh?

I believe torque is a strong suit of EVs.

No I do not. Slightly different situation but still a valid point.

I'm sure fast charge stations will be more abundant as battery car sales increase.
That takes up a lot of space. Which would drive up real estate costs, forcing minorities out of their homes as they can't afford rent. Jesus chill with the white supremacy shit.

This sounds familiar. The increase in cost for plywood and lumber is really shocking. Not sure how anyone can afford to build right now.
yeah it's crazy how much lumber went up. I had to repair a section of my fence when a tree fell on it like December 2019 or jan 2020 and it cost $75 for the materials. I then did another section that faced to road just because it was starting to look bad around oct 2020, same size and it cost $150 for materials.

Poor people take the bus. Wow.

If you ever need to ask yourself what privilege looks like, remember this post.

Gas prices going up to rational levels means more Oil & Gas jobs for unskilled labor, making 5 to 6 figures. That's a bad thing?
poor people definitely drive cars around here...

Lol all of those houses in parking lots. News flash, housing prices outpace wage growth.
