Lets talk fishing

Pike season opened last Friday. I couldn't get my hands on one. I did catch a few walleyes and a smallmouth. No monsters, but it was nice to fish again.

Walleye season opened yesterday. The weather was kinda nasty for this time of the year. 45F with 20mph gusts of wind and a lot of rain.

I didn't catch any walleye, which was quite surprising. I caught a smallmouth and a pike that gave me an amazing fight.

I'll probably go out tomorrow night and try another spot.

Went for walleye yesterday evening. I caught a 2 lbs smallie and a walleye. It's not been the walleye opening week I was hoping for, but I can't complain since I was blanked only once.

A nice 23-inch female. Caught her on a chatterbait with a white worm trailer.

We had a few smaller ones before that one. Had another good size one, but I got impatient and set the hook too soon. So I opened the bail and let this one take the small bluegill. Pound for pound, the striped bass we been catching fight hard!! They hit like a truck! Then you reel in a 12” fish lol
 
I have gone after smallies three time the past week. I am getting really good ones on but losing them on jumps or a heartbreaker, went to lip grab one the other day and knocked the hook out. I trapped it against a rock but it got away. It was a three pounder. That hurts

I try to bring a net now because of that.

I have one. Can’t find it atm. I considered looking for it-not for everywhere, but the river is tough to get a fish sometimes. On my kayak or in the creek, it’s at least easy to grab them. But I bet my net work would suck because I don’t use them anymore.
