Lets talk fishing

I'm over in ND, and we just use a red and white spoon.

It's early enough in the year, the water is still cold, and the northerns should still taste decent.
Sacajeweia reservoir? That's the only place I've fished in ND. Went ice fishing a few years ago there.

Pike aren't picky on bait. Just have to get those water wolves interested.

Have you ever had pickled pike? We usually just fry it, or use this sailors pike recipe his grandpa gave him.

Nah, just local lakes. They're in almost every lake in ND.

Since you're close to ND, you should hit up Spiritwood Lake. It's the only place in the US to catch Zander.

I'm allergic to fish. I can clean them, I just can't eat them.

I will take a look online and see where that is.

I never ate fish growing up. My dad was allergic too. I'm glad I am not allergic.

Pretty countryside, but there isn't much else to see there besides a 25ft tall concrete buffalo.

It is what it is, nothing I can do about it.

There are lots of places I go fishing out in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a reservoir. You can't beat the view of the skies on a good day.

Rods and reels are cleaned up, oiled, and respooled. Boat has been refueled, with a new license, started and ready to go....
And now we wait for fishable water.
Rivers and creeks are blown clear out, lakes and ponds look like actual chocolate milk right now.

Same. I got out two weeks ago on a Saturday and it was abeutifuk day. Caught a few bass, was happy to be back in the water again. Decided to go the next day and en route, it starts pouring. I said fuck it and fished anyway. Got soaked and caught nothing. Now it’s 30s again.

Hit the Ohio river looking for some smallies. Bit of a cold front here the last two weeks with yesterday being the only 70 degree day. I took 9 poles with me and a scale-no tackle. I wanted to try out some new lures and set ups. I caught two. The first one was the bigger of the two at 2.7 lbs and caught on a 6th sense swim jig with a green pumpkin pro Congo craw trailer. The second was on a zman chatter bait in morning dawn color. Lost both lures on snags, which really sucked for the jig because I don’t have an extra. The pumpkin pro colors are amazing as are the pb pro colors (peanut butter and jelly)

Which stretch of the river are you on?

You guys are so lucky. Most species are off limit here in Québec. I can only go for catfish and carp. Walleye opens on May 10. Bass opens on June 21.

The weather will be nice next week. I'll prebait a spot for a few days and give carp a shot, but the water is still cold (40F). I don't expect much action.

Damn....thats a bummer! Why is it so regulated? Are they that scarce/pressured?

Lots of fishing pressure and too many fishermen having no respect for the resources.

We don't have many game wardens anymore because the the province made massive cuts so it's easier to overregulate.

Thats aweful to hear man.

Despite Californias Commie ways, the Fish & Game management of resources is pretty good, realistic and reasonable. I wish there were more Wardens tho, cuz i see people poaching all the time & it makes me sick.

I live northern WV
Was just curious, I used to fish a couple different sections many years ago. I live about an hour east of Wheeling, so it's not all that far to either Marietta or Wheeling. Mostly fished Marietta area for sauger, but my grandpa and I fished the Steubenville dam several times when I was a teenager also.

Funny. I live in wheeling. One of my jobs is in St Clairsville and I travel from there to Cleveland on occasion. Spend a lot of time in Cadiz and Woodsfield because of this job. Marietta is supposed to be a good smallie section of the Ohio.
