Lets talk fishing

I like to get some worms and drown em while I sit with a Miller Lite in my right hand and some sunflower seeds in my left.

I've got a snapper fishing trip planned for November, start of the season, never caught one.
Big Red!
I have a snapper trip planned myself. Gonna be a bit later than November unfortunately. Towards the end of next March. Little & Great Barrier Islands plus the Mokohinau Islands. It's been a few years, plus I've never been to the Mokes. I don't say this very often, but it's gonna be epic! I've landed a couple just under and been burnt on the reef by fish that had to be over the magic 20lb mark. But there's snaps out around those islands that people have caught that have hit 30lbs. If I'm dreaming, might as well dream big.

Make sure you update this thread with how it goes mate!

So where do you put your cock if both hands are full? Bring a friend?

I want to fish so bad, missed bass season this year because I'm in Korea.. Hopefully I will at least get to try some ocean fishing soon, I've only ever been freshwater fishing. I really want to go for bass tho.

Speaking of Bass and the ocean: Surf Casting poppers and other surface/super shallow running lures from the rocks for Striped Bass on the East Coast looks Rad as Fuck. Hope to give that a go one day before the body is shot.

Anyone here fish for Peacock Bass?

Thats a bucket list fish for me. Ideally id love to visit Brazil and catch some there (along with 1000 other awesome species) but I may take a trip to Florida in the meantime and get on some

With kids busy in sports most of my fishing has been limited to our pond. Something has wiped out a large part of the population, but the ones left are doing well. If I recall these weighed 7-2, 5-2, 5-12, and 7-2 again. Not sure if both 7-2s were the same fish. First was pre spawn, second was in August. These aren't noteworthy in a lot of locations, but in Ohio they're well above average. Our bass fishing sucks in general. The last one was a public lake fish. No battery in my scale, I suppose it was somewhere around 4lbs. My youngest son also caught a giant black crappie this spring, public lake.

Why are they so coveted by anglers? Do they put up a good fight or is it something else?
They sure are a pretty fish.

I cant really speak for other anglers, but for me it has more to do with their aggresive predatory intinct to hunt and attack your lure presentation. Like a Largemouth Bass, the tactics you use to go after them is the kind of fishing I like. So THAT plus the idea of its a good size fish, its exotic, different, puts a good fight etcc...plus gives me more reasons to plan & book trips

I’m going fishing off a pier to celebrate a friend’s birthday today. We only go to the pier on weekdays to avoid the crowds. Hopefully I can snag a bullred but it may be to early in the year. Probably get a couple of sheepshead of the pillars easy tho. Live shrimp and mullet for bait if they have it.

I got that Covid a few weeks ago and took some time off fishing. Finally got out yesterday and the conditions have already changed . . .

I’m going on a 2.5 day charter on the Endeavor leaving the 27th, there’s two spots open if you wanna go.
