Let's talk about Stipes head movement against Ngannou

To survive by the most pussiest means and call yourself the "baddest man on the planet", and you applaud this. Go jump off of anything. Pussy.
Lol you are clearly an idiot. No point in arguing any further, you obviously don’t know much about MMA.

In all fairness all the gifs people always post of tyson and sweet pea Whitakers defense are of them bobbing and weaving around over extended monster hooks and uppercuts that were slower than franc's punches

They're both ducking below the belt which is an illegal move.

It isn't quite that easy. I boxed a bit after highschool (got my ass kicked a lot), and even though I saw a lot of punches coming I was still getting tagged alot. It takes a lot of practice to be able to slip punches like the pros. Easy to say "ahh they saw them coming from a mile away" but even if you see them coming there are so many other things to keep in mind. You might slip one, but slipping an entire combo is something very few people can do consistently.

definitely, when i spar i can usually slip one, maybe two but then i am worried about knees and kicks and additional punches.

i just think both stipe and holly has a better striking acumen and corner that helped them anticipate what's coming their way in the middle of the fight. and when i say they can see punches from a mile away, it's because their opponents are throwing the same combos/punches or they telegraph it before they throw.

Swinging hard and missing is very tiring, and also off-putting because in training you're used to hitting pads/bags with 100% accuracy. Someone like Ngannou probably also has a hard time getting sparring partners if he's punching that hard, so he just doesn't have enough real fight experience to know how to conserve his energy.

i don't no much about striking but i don't see how being"scared shitless" would make having good head movement&slipping punches easy,or easier.but if that is the case then it's blatantly obvious that Justine Kishe has hands down the best head movement in the history of the UFC &it's not up for debate, because she literally shat her pants while fighting Fellica Herric or whatever that skanks name is..i didn't see the fight but did Stiopics pussy-ass do any pop-locking after slipping an 8 punch combo&just "swag" all over Francis?

Where is so-so?

Pulled his pants half way up and took off running down the street with a bloody bum, poor fucker! You guys destroyed him, lmao...

You sound bitter. I hope youre joking, otherwise you might be a deeply unhappy person.

Hey man, although I appreciate you replying to this thread, the proof is in the pudding and it isn't a debate, and Stipe outstruck Ngannou standing so your opinion doesn't hold any water. No one wants to go toe to toe with someone like Ngannou and turn a fight into the battle of chins. I know that you would have personally stood toe to toe with Ngannou with no regards to getting hit but Stipe just isn't as elite as you, so take it easy on him.
Such an articulate, sarcastic and savage response. Props. You are on my good posters radar.

If it's "very easy", then why didn't Overeem exhibit good head movement when he fought Francis?

Nobody said Stipe's head movement is on par with Anderson's, but it's pretty good for a heavyweight.

Reem's head movement has always been quite weak I'd say, his success in K-1 was based heavily on using the big gloves to provide a defence without it but when he moved to MMA he needed to become smaller and more mobile as he just look too many shots in close exchanges.

Next step for SoSoSmart: "Huhuhu guyzz you took the bait. I was trolling!!!"

I am not seeing too many people talk about this post fight. It is the reason he not only survived against Ngannou but beat him in rd 1 unlike Arlovski, Reem and Bojan. For those of you that don't know Stipe took 1-2 years off early in his MMA career to focus just on boxing, before he came back to MMA full time. He credits this time off from MMA as to why his striking is evolved to the point it is. Not only did it improve his striking offense, but his defense as well which I feel was on full display against Ngannou. I am sure that some people are going to reply to this with him getting KO'd by Struve, or him being tagged by (enter name here) but everyone gets hit at the end of the day. The advantage he has because of this experience is obvious though when it comes to slipping strikes and countering as well as rolling with punches.

^ rolled with a nice hook from Ngannou into a sick level change ^

Shoutout to @Sansnom for the gifs (si t'es un francophone, merci big) I found these in his thread he made http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/stipe-vs-ngannou-recap-gifs-inside.3697309/

Anyways, I attribute Stipes early success to his head movement if I am being honest. Ngannou has him against the cage and within range a few times and he mostly whiffed telegraphed punches in the first round. Not only is it hard on the cardio but it is very very hard on the confidence, nothing worse than hitting air infact. In rd 1 Stipe outstruck Ngannou with 24 of 33 strikes while Ngannou only landed 18 of 65 total strikes. Those are fantastic numbers to back up how far ahead Stipe is in not only wreslting and grappling, but striking as well when compared to Ngannou.

Anyways I could ramble on forever, thanks for listening.

Cliffs - Amazing head movement by Stipe against Ngannou, very impressed.

Already posted this in another thread... His head movement gassed ngannou out.. He was winging wild hooks and it gassed him.. Good post ts

Stipe moved decently, but most of everything showed good eyes. I was wondering if his right eye swelling was going to give Ngannou more openings, but Ngannou slowed way faster than Stipe's eye swoll.

At the end of the day, great gameplan from Stipe against a way bigger, stronger and har hitter opponent.

Don't care about Stipe (i root for Werdum and Overeem) or Ngannou (don't know him well), but Stipe deserved that one.

Again I think Ngannou vs Arlovski and Reem is just one of those situations where lighting strikes twice with someone landing more accurate punches than they typically would, not that I couldn't see Ngannou beating them again but I suspect if he did it would look less impressive and sloppier.

Soko looked like a great kickboxer vs Lil Nog and Arona, not nearly as good when he actually had to fight for a prolonged period and didn't land big early.
