Let's call them Daesh. Not ISIS.

Who cares what they're called?

Doesn't really change a thing.

It's a brand.

If you change their name now, much of the associative baggage with the old name doesn't get carried over to the new name. A fresh new start!

I think this is more politically correct bull-shit.

They're doing this because they no longer want to associate Islam with these barbarians. They want to advance the narrative that "Islam is peace", and that we should accept all of these military-aged refugees.

I don't buy it.

These freaks are the embodiment of Islam, and people NEED to associate this shit with that death-cult.

Don't fall for the liberal propaganda by removing Islam from their title.

Furthermore, there is absolutely no evidence that these people "hate the term Daesh". That seems completely speculative.

hah

They REALLY hate being called 'Protectors of peace and justice'

They would be PISSED if everyone started calling them that

My god, you're retarded. 10 seconds of googling found multiple links discussing how they hate the term Daesh, including direct references to threats.

From your own article...

"Their savage acts don't coincide with the name of Islam," said Sunni cleric Hameed Marouf Hameed, an official with Iraq's Sunni religious endowment. "They incite hatred, violence and killing and these acts have no place in any real Islamic state."

This is about keeping the name of Islam clean. This has nothing to do with what these savages "hate".

I call them, "the group formerly known as moderate rebels"

Why? ISIS is just an English acronym meaning the same thing Daesh does in Arabic. If I were speaking Arabic, I'd use an Arabic acronym. If speaking English, I'll use an English acronym. It seems a bit hipstery to do otherwise, like some guy trying to sound cool by saying, "Oh yes, I speak francaise, deutsch, and suomi."

I posted that link to demonstrate that Daesh hates the term, not to quibble about whether some non-Daesh muslims prefer it.

First of all, the article makes no fucking sense.

DAESH is an Arabic acronym.

According to Arabic translator Alice Guthrie, "D.A.E.SH is a transliteration of the Arabic acronym formed of the same words that make up I.S.I.S in English: 'Islamic State in Iraq and Syria', or 'al-dowla al-islaamiyya fii-il-i'raaq wa-ash-shaam'."

"Dash" - In English, means to erase, or destroy.

The only purpose this could possibly serve, is to disassociate Islam from what these terrorists are doing. Surely, you can see that?

Or let's do and say we did. I'm referring to them as "Daesh" from here on out.

it is offensive to them
pretty sure this counts as a micro-aggression and PC Principle would not be pleased

on a side note, funny how many things we can't say because they are offensive but now we are to call someone something that is offensive.
laugh at everything or laugh at nothing

Instead of calling them the Islamic State in English, we are going to call them Islamic State in their native tongue.

Yeah, I'm sure that's going to really piss them off...

man, this is gonna piss off all the ISIS/ISIL/DAESH members on sherdog!

Well we did have the Boston Bombers.

But I was thinking 'in general', not online only.

The Chattanooga shooter was also a wrestler/mma fighter and probably a sherdogger too.

We need to cross reference all known Muslim sherdoggers and check their posts in War Room and Weapons and Tactics.

Wow, you guys are such badasses. Taunting ISIS by calling them names they don't like...

Not seeing you over there fighting ISIS, but you're such a bad ass for calling out people with your keyboard.

Except that I don't claim to be one by "opposing" them online, unlike this bunch of internet warriors.
