can't disagree with that. though i do have an east coast bias when it comes to individual rappers/groups.

As a hardcore hip hop head back in the day I would say it will probably be one of the most memorable due to it's originality and popularity at the time. It also has the growing nostalgia effect where as time goes by it seems to only get better. However when you bring up an absolute word like 'best', they are up against some heavy hitters from the 90s, especially if you dig deeper into the underground scene back then. With that being said for mainstream rap/hiphop it was a great era.
 
I remember them days. I had four 10"s that would make the rear view mirror move. That was nothing compared to this dude that had like four 15"s in his car that cracked the glass.

I had two 12"'s from walmart and a mickey mouse amp set up luckily my car never caught on fire = ) .
 
I'm 38 and have listened to rap since I was around 9-10. My first tape was Fat Boyz - Crushin', I've seen almost the entire lifespan of rap and it's certainly declined in the last 15 years.

You'e not finding anything comparable to these in 2018.











 
I prefer 80s rap.

Check out the origin of the whole East coast vs West coast feud. These dudes didn't fuck around back then.

 
I agree. It fit the warm weather Cali vibe. Outside parties all year and people enjoying themselves.

East coast rap is grittier and it fits the harsh depressing winters we have in the tri state
 
Not a hip hop fan but I can listen to and enjoy a bit of g-funk.
