Law Leticia James and Adam Schiff to face grand jury over mortgage fraud allegations

I guess if you’re going to go at the king you better not miss. Or at least make sure your own side of the street is clean. Not looking good for her considering this case rests on the precedent she herself set.
It is a PR stunt to saturate the media and divert the public attention from government shutdown and the Epstein files.
It is like all the dozens of BS lawsuits that Trump's lawyers filed to fight the result of the 2020 election, not a single one got through. The chance that Comey or James get convicted is zero.

It’s not a PR stunt, it’s just flat out revenge. She could absolutely be convicted, but I’m sure she’ll get the penalty overturned on an appeal just like Trump did.

FBI found nothing, prosecutors found nothing, the only fool to try bringing charges is an incompetent personnal attorney and the judge is a black Biden appointee.
There is no chance any convictions comes from that shitshow.

This is one of the reasons politicians are rarely prosecuted. If Gaetz had been a civilian, he almost certainly had been prosecuted, but the price for missing is too high.

Vindictive prosecution generally has too high a bar to use, but fortunately Trump released his hit list publicly, so Comey is probably safe. I don't know about James and Schiff, or how much evidence is there against them.

Now that "lawfare" has officially been normalized, in a perfect world Newsome will win in 2028 and set the DoJ on the GOP and clean house. Hopefully he collects some scalps.

What I really hope is that so many lawmakers get caught (on both sides) that they taste some fear, and maybe play it clean knowing going forward they'll be carefully scrutinized and are vulnerable, not immune.

It is not black and white, you can buy a house as a second home and later rent it out. Plus, reverse occupancy fraud is the opposite (claiming you will rent, but occupy instead).

If that was such clear cut, a prosecutor would not have resigned over it, and it wouldn't be trump personnal attorney (with zero experience as prosecutor) being the last and only choice to do the job.
Meaning she is either clearly innocent, or the case is incredibly weak.
It really is clear cut. Either she rented it out or she didn't. Playing devil's advocate as to how she could possibly excuse herself isn't the discussion.

And you are correct. I typically deal with people using DSCR loans and then self-occupying.

The prosecutor resigned because it's not smart to go after the AG if you live and work there even if you have a rock solid case because as we are seeing now with James, going after politicians can have negative ramifications.

So if you buy a house, occupy it for some time and rent it out during another period you are 100% guaranteed to have committed fraud one way or the other? That's dodgy... I really don't think it is that simple.

Nah it does not make sense at all. He would oppose a vindicative sitting president to not pursue a solid case against an AG of another state?

it would be amazing for US democracy if an absolute shitload of legislators on both sides of the aisle were prosecuted and jailed where appropriate. Insider dealing, mortgage fraud, whatever, if people though that their legislators actually faced accountability for their corruption and greed it would markedly improve their faith in the system. Not sure if can say this would be something with bipartisan approval as I imagine unfortunately tribalism would kick in and each side excuse their own legislators' misdeeds whilst condemning those of the other side, but if we assume (as I suspect it's right to assume) that legislators on both sides are 'ai it' as we say in the UK, it would be great to bring voters on both sides together in applauding the perp-walks of a few dozen shady Congresspeople and Senators.

of course the most corrupt single thing in politics is entirely legal, apropos Citizens United and the laws which enable lobbying. de-toothing AIPAC would equally, I imagine, have pretty broad bipartisan support.

I believe Mat Gaetz made a thing of taking no corporate money and funding his campaign on small-donor money entirely (am open to correction here but i am pretty sure I saw him say that, assuming he told the truth, good for him), another easy fix of US politics with almost universal bipartisan approval.

Both sides are full of scumbags. Just look at this thread. FBI and DOJ take down high end DC brothel used by politicians and others. Have a full client list..

And which politician has been charged or leaked that they were involved? Oh yea none, story completely buried, and no mainstream media journalist cares to report on it.

Just like the insider trading and such you mentioned. They are a protected class on both sides of the isle as long as they cowtow to the donor class.

If you’re filling out forms like that and listing references to use a brothel, you’re a fucking idiot and way too stupid to hold any political power.

This is pretty much how I feel with all politicians. Fire them all, rehire under the noose. The French were pretty good with this idea for a while.

Don’t disagree, but look at Tish James here. Filling out forms in a fraudulent way, defrauding banks, on several, publicly available forms. While going out a leader of a political movement for the same thing.

How dumb can they be? Lmao
