Leopard Attacked by 50 Baboons in the Middle of the Road

Many animal documentaries have shown leopards giving up their kill to a lone hyena. Sometimes a hyena just runs at the cat and headbutts it on it's side, and the leopard gives up.

Funny thing is that large male baboon has a similar bite strength to the Leopard and teeth to match, large males have been known to take on Leopards and win.

Leopards and Baboons are enemies in the wild and will catch and kill each others young on sight.

You're right, baboons & mandrills are ferocious but jaguars are part of the cat family... pound for pound they're some of the best fighters in the animal kingdom other than mustelids.

Nah I was talking about fighting but I looked it up and hyenas are just too small. They probably beat a leopard though

A lone hyena gets washed by a lion. They can take on lions when they are in large numbers, but they're "kings of the jungle" for a reason (savanna but I didn't invent the slogan).

Leopards are actually pretty low tier in the big cats category. I think a hyena can take on a leopard.

Leopards are ridiculously strong for their size compared to to say Lions the only thing is that they don't travel in groups so they can be outnumbered if they aren't careful.

When you see this in Nature, and then watch videos of humans like in the Alabama dock fights, you just shake your head at the lack of distance in behavior.

No I can't unimagne unleashing a set of wild Animals on that shit show lol.

More than survived.. he takes of to the left part of the screen inconvenienced but not damaged at the end of the scuffle..

Yep even a small cat doesn't fuck around. A giant cat is OP. If you watch the clip when the baboons pounce the Leopard goes to its back and uses its limbs to kick and claw at any in range while also biting. 5 nasty points of attack.

When I was a kid at Melbourne zoo the leopard enclosure was still pretty much this but with more of a chain link fence (still had the wooden partition thing for people to rest against). Child me had the genius idea to climb over that to get closer. When I was leaving I turned my back to the leopards to climb back over the partition. Before I could even react one of the leopards was triggered by my turning of my back and pounced at the fence, leaping 20 feet in a single bound. I winded myself on the wooden partition as my stomach whacked into it as I desperately clambered over it, inches away from the roaring leopard, wondering why I was so foolish and amazed they could move so fast (faster than a human can really react).

Crazy shit. If you look carefully, you can see the leopard literally fought off every single baboon attacking it (from its back) - biting and kicking in inverted guard. And then when it had cleared some space it took off. What a gangsta.

Leopards are the most adapted, most successful all-around hunters among all big cats. They're extraordinary.

I think I got cheetah and leopard characteristics mixed up.

My pit bull would have destroyed that weak ass leopard, and it would have taken out those stupid monkeys too. There are levels to this shit.

The first Baboon to confront the Leopard is fearless.

Rare to see this.

Update: Way better footage in this one. You can see clearly the alpha male didn't hesitate once the Leopard came charging in, he then proceeded to charge at the Leopard. There even other male Baboons who were further out, ready to defend their group.

Incredible footage.

It was at this moment the leopard knew...he fucked up lol.

Great footage @MXZT

F.A.F.O.

I like that one brave baboon (a huge one) said "fuck this, enough is enough" and the rest of the troop followed suit.

If only herd creatures were smarter, they'd realize "hold on, we outnumber this fuck..."

But their species survival is reliant on sheer quantity, not intelligence.

It does happen, although rare.

Check this amazing footage. This has a herd of buffalo surrounding lions and attacking them, and even crocodiles.

@MXZT may like this one.

Yeah this is a classic indeed. One of the best and most amazing.

I would imagine their actually better than them as well, the issue is likely more that lone big cats are very vulnerable to injury, they depend on being in top shape to feed so they will generally not risk injury which could result in death unless there already starving themselves or are protecting their young.

Testament to BJJs effectiveness against multiple attackers.
