Dana made these rules and Edwards is playing by them. If you demand someone must be to blame, at least be clever enough to blame the right party.

Leon wants to fight Masvidal next.
Someone should tell Leon that Masvidal hasn't won a fight in almost 4 years.
Leon says he is the king and he decides who is next.
Dana will show Leon that Dana is the king and Leon is the temporary prince.

Seriously. Half of this thread wouldn't exist if people just looked up the video.

It's the first thing I did, searched on YT to get the full context. And there he tells Ariel that his decision is not about Masvidal, who for all he knows could lose to Gilbert.
He says something along the lines of "Even Khamzat would be outconquered for years" as to point out the absurdity of UFC's ways. Also says he will fight Colby with another top 5 win,
but that he should start there in his comback after a long hiatus.

Also, it's more about how the UFC are working. He got to know on twitter that Colby was weighing in, when he had just been there for the weigh-in himself. Two days before the actual fight.
They had told him nothing about it, and the question is, why didn't they? What's with all the hush hush from the UFC?

Show me where Edwards expressed reluctance to fight Shavkat.

Just because he doesn’t want to give Colby a freebie doesn’t mean that he won’t fight grapplers. He’s just beaten Usman twice and had already fought Belal, the other top grinder who by your logic he would avoid.
 
So many bad takes in this thread; so I'm going to point out a few things:

-Leon KO'd stiff the P4P #1 fighter and then outdueled him in a fairly clear cut decision.
-Leon is a British (which is definitely something that the UFC cares about) Champ.
-This is most definitely an example of negotiations taking place in public view.
-He will obviously fight Colby if the money is right.
-In addition to Jorge being a much bigger name than Colby (so more money to be made,) there's also a personal reason for Leon to want to punch Masvidal in the face for 25 minutes.
 
I'm sure that will work. God knows that Ngannou certainly outsmarted Daner and is now rolling in money.
 
LOL at Leon who would of course prefer to fight Journeyman Masvidal next. Probably even if he loses against Burns because of the old beef that has to been sorted out.That fight was offered a couple of times over the years and he didn't have the balls to fight Jorge because he was ranked below him.

Leon is the worst champ atm in the UFC. Make no mistake he got a title shot after a lucky win over Nate in the end and a NC against Belal which should've been a DQ. Before that 2 years without any fights. So which top 5 guys did he fought?

He should be rightfully thankful for that hail mary in the 2nd Usman fight every morning.

Masvidal is much worse. Colby has a chance if he fights the way he has in the past.

Belal = Colby with worse striking.

He has not said Shavkats name, and I doubt he ever will.

The only name he said he would fight so far is Masvidal, the worst fighter in the top 15 who Colby destroyed for 5 rounds.

Go back and watch Colby vs Masvidal again and tell me why would he not want to fight Colby but say he would fight Jorge.

Leon can't say he won't fight Colby because he doesn't deserve it, only to say he'll fight Masvidal if he beats Burns. Colby literally dominated Masvidal for 5 rounds straight one fight ago. Masvidal also has already had two title shots, one of which was ENTIRELY undeserved.

I also don't really like champions dictating who they will and will not fight. They should be forced to fight the top contender, or be stripped.

I agree Colby doesn't deserve a title fight but before people jump on Leon's bandwagon, they should be aware he'll be likely be more than happy to fight Masvidal or Conor.
