Media Leon says he will NOT sign contract vs. Colby Covington

I can hear it now...."Edwards didn't want to fight, I mean, we offered him a fight and he wouldn't take it. We stripped him and made Colby vs Nate Diaz for the Title. Masvidal is weighing in as an alternate",

The UFC has fucked with Leon before. I'm on Leon's side here, but I think Leon only has slightly more say in the matter than I do LOL.

If Leon is refusing to sign a contract to defend the UFC title, he's the one fucking with the UFC.

As a true MMA fan, who wants the most deserving fighters to fight for the championship, all of us who feel that way, should boycott the fight. I won't spend a dime on it personally.

If so-called MMA the fans want a shit show, then by all means support this ridiculous narrative (WWE)...

Hits with the same tone as a kids playing shootout and going "Nuh uh, you didn't hit me cuz i'm wearing armor"
Yep!! That’s really Jorge’s only “bargaining chip” otherwise he has practically 0 eligibility for the belt besides the Champ calling him out for unfinished business.

I hear you. Belal needs to hire a better manager that has people that can promote him better. Colby said it best, this is a business. The UFC really doesn’t care about who deserves what. They only care if their audience cares enough to pull out their money.
Indeed. And if Colby gets it over Belal, Belal needs to find a way to really make people “remember the name”. He is very forgettable, unfortunately.

So, what Leon is saying is

Colby v Belal for interim.

Who's the better fighter is a ridiculous measuring criteria?

<JagsKiddingMe>

Nobody was clamoring for Belal vs Leon, or pretending Belal was some clear #1 contender, until they found out Colby was fighting Leon next, and now everyone has to scramble and pretend beating Sean Brady is some undeniable path to the title. Christ, they couldn't charge money for that, they'd have to make it a 5 round title fight on the prelims.
Yes, who is hypothetically the better fighter is a ridiculous criteria cause it's basically a guess. You think Colby would beat Belal but they haven't fought so it's not something real like a long winning streak.

So why not just automatically give it to whoever has the longest winning streak at the time?

That would solve matchmaking concerns, would get rid of instant rematches, would prevent "rank squatting" or freezing out dangerous up and comers and make guys want to fight more, but I think we can recognize that doesn't work because a razor thin FOTY back and forth with the champ doesn't indicate a lesser fighter than laying on top of a much weaker opponent.

For everybody complaining they don't think Colby "deserves" to fight Leon, you should all take advantage and make a ton of money betting on Leon and post the slips.

I think that would be much better than giving it to someone based on imaginary wins. Usman is no longer champ, the close losses to Usman don't matter as much anymore.

So if Usman had won, we would be seeing Usman vs Covington 3? Would people have been ok with that?

Depends on what I was being given before hand.

Which is a case per case basis. Which is not how people treat it. They treat it like the ufc is always wrong and the fighter is always right.

Healthcare is a human right it absolutley is not conditional on a case by case basis.
