Leon got f*cked over by the UFC

Leon is an annoying dork, he deserved the whooping he got.

Also most people thought Belal was going to be a walk in the park for Edwards based in their first fight, Belal got severely underrated in this match up so this isn't like UFC set him up for fail.

I mean he did, but Leon also shit the bed. That was as big of a factor as anything else. Seems like Leon - along with guys like garbrant and woodly (he got away with it for more fights thou) don't have the same drive they did before they got the belt.
Did he ever have that drive tho? He landed one head kick when Usman decided to chill for the last minute.

Leon was supposed to fight JDM, but then at the last minute (okay, couple of weeks) notice he has to fight a grapple heavy guy, rather than JDM (a striker) who would have been a more favourable matchup for Leon. I like JDM, but that was poor from the UFC to do that to Leon. It would have been good to have seen a matchup between JDM and Leon to determine the better MMA figher, but more so the better striker overall. Do you think it was kind of dirty from the UFC to fuck over Leon like that?

It was actually four weeks...the news broke on Feb. 19 and the event was Mar. 22. Four weeks is obviously not the same as having a full camp to focus on a particular fighter, but it wasn't what we really think of as a very short notice change.

He could have declined the fight like other fighters have. He accepted a short notice fight that he knew would be a complete stylistic change and it didn't work out. Things happen.

Normally, I would absolutely agree with that...and I fully support fighters who decline to fight on short notice, decline to fight opponents who badly miss weight, who pull out due to injury, etc. You want to be as prepared and healthy for a cage fight as possible.

In this case, Leon was the headliner in the O2 in London. Sure, he *could* have declined the opponent change...in reality, the UFC could have chosen virtually anyone they wanted and Leon would almost certainly have agreed in order to headline that particular card.

UFC needed someone to fight for the title. JDM just got lucky in that regard. But that's here nor there, if Leon is champ material he should be able to beat Brady. He didn't.

Leon fucked himself over by underestimating Sean Brady.

Imagine only being able to beat someone if you train for them specifically and imagine complaining that someone who wasn't scheduled to fight being in a better position that someone was in training camp.

This is like the narrative that "Conor always had short notice fights!" lol no. His opponents did. He was training already. I'd rather be training striking and face a wrestler short notice than not be training specifically and have to fight someone.

Leon had his chance jack took a great opportunity...
The only one screwing Leon is Leon..

We'll see if he pulls out now

Leon never had an especially notable drive prior to winning the belt, he always found ways to drop rounds to fighters he should be superiors to in almost every way.

Fuck Leon.

Glad he is out of the picture.

His complete dismissal and disregard for Belal as a legit contender after he was the one to foul him plus the massive hypocrisy that came with it, was enough to turn me into a hater.

He would have beaten Janitor Jack too, that's what really sucks for him. Now we have a DWCS bum for a champion and a boring blanket as a #1 contender. Styles make fights.

Also, it's obvious Belal should have taken more time off to recover from that bone infection/surgery.

Yikes.

But he won it. And found a way to do it in spectacular fashion. Did he look suspect? Sure - but he also looked GREAT in some of those fights too.

i heard mcdonalds has DEI programs still
leon has options

He dominated Usman in the 2nd fight, and had a complete shut out against Colby. He doesn't look good at the moment, but he had two good title defenses. Thats more than most get
