Media Leon Edwards Completely No-Selling Colby Getting a Title Shot

Although I comprehend Leon's perspective, currently, Colby is the most significant fight on his horizon and undisputedly the top contender in the division.
Based on....WHAT, exactly? He hasn't fought in over a year and beat Jorge Masvidal. Are we really going to say that a win over Masvidal a year ago earns you a title shot? Especially when you've already had 2 title shots and lost both of them?

Almost beating Usman one time several years ago doesn't count for anything.

If we're purley talking from a sporting merit point of view, Colby is a terrible fight that turns off all true sports fans. It goes against the very ethos of sporting competition.

The sooner they get that belt off of Leon the better the dude is bad for business.

Colby bless.

Based on the official rankings.

If you're a Leon Edwards fan, then Colby is the opponent you want to see him fight. Besides Khamzat Chimaev, Colby represents the most prominent fight in the division, and that’s an indisputable fact. A rematch between Edwards and Belal or a fight with Burns wouldn't generate more than 350k PPV purchases - I'm willing to bet on that.

Dana countered this by mentioning how long Leon sat out for, and not one of those bum ass useless reporters could point out that that was after a 9-fight win streak (excluding Belal), for his first shot as opposed to already losing 2 title shots in his last 4 fucking fights like Colby

Not to mention injuries, opponents dropping out, and oh yeah... COVID. Colby's titleshot is the least deserved in recent memory.

Leon is the last person to be criticizing someone for sitting out. He is just upset that Colby has (barely) some marketing skills to get what he wants.

There go the Colby fools again, conveniently forgetting that ranks go hand on hand with streaks/momentum, and aren't used alone.

It's the Champ's duty to fight all comers and defend not sit back and cherry pick.
And that would work in perfect conjunction with the bookers putting them against the most worthy contenders

Leon didn't sit out, so..

Leon got a title shot beating unranked Nate Diva but ya'll act different. He's a promotional nightmare zero personality and a pretty laughable strength of schedule in the UFC. Look at his run to the title before ya'll critisize Colby's.

Except Colby isn't a contender and hasn't fought for over a year and holds zero wins over currently ranked fighters.

Leon refusing to fight Colby is good for the sport, but you don't care about sport, you care about popularity and showmanship, so again, WWE is that way, chief

You're more concerned with the financials for the UFC than you are about whether or not Colby deserves the title shot.

Without using PPV buys or assumed fighter popularity, explain why Colby deserves the title shot based on his recent resume.

Tell me which specific win was good enough to earn him a third title shot.

I mean I know you won't, so.

Except he literally didn't. He had the title shot locked up before that fight. He had already earned it.

Want to compare win streaks, Leon vs Colby? No? Yeah I didn't think so.

Yup! leon already earned his title shot he just got a payday.

Do you understand that the UFC is a business and the fighters compete for a paycheck? Without a financial incentive, they would not participate in the sport.

Despite not being a fan of Colby Covington, it's important to note that the opportunity to make a lot of money in the UFC is limited.

As Leon's friend or coach, I would advise him to consider fighting Covington since it would generate more attention, revenue, and ultimately be more beneficial to his career. After all, isn't this the primary objective?

Additionally, Covington's inactivity may result in ring rust, which could work to Edwards' advantage.

I am having difficulty seeing why this matchup is causing so much commotion. As a supporter of Leon, wouldn't you want him to have the most significant opportunities?

It's possible to make a case that Belal deserves a shot at the title, but it's also arguable that his fights have been underwhelming.

In my opinion, the welterweight match-ups are straightforward. Leon should face Colby, and the winner of the Burns vs. Belal fight should be next in line for the title shot.

Leon's right ..

Colby can get in line ...hes already had and lost title fights in his last 5 fights.. like why dont they just remove the title from Leon and give it to Colby .. clearly they want to keep giving him chances to be the champion but Colby keeps shitting the bed ..

Beating Masvidal doesnt mean shit in this landscape ...dude just retired...the win aged horriblely...

Colby needs to fight a top 5 guy smash him impressively ( hasn't happened ever) ...then he can call out Leon..

Till then ...tough luck playboy keep making stupid videos and talking with sunglasses on indoors...

Leon is the Champion MMA NEEDS! BLESS

And to the MMA Money fans ...anyone vs Leon in London automatically makes Leon bank so he aint worried

Based on my experience on this forum, I've noticed that account bets are rarely followed through. However, if there were an official betting line, I would give it serious consideration. That being said, I'm willing to make a friendly bet with you that a Edwards vs. Colby fight would surpass 350k pay-per-view buys.
