Nintendo Legend of Zelda: A link to the past appreciation thread

The zelda series was my first game series I dedicated myself to and its baffled me its died down.

I tried replaying Ocarina before Link to the Past and I got burned out. Ocarina, fun as hell the first playthrough, felt like work the 2nd time.

Link to the past had that simplicity enough to pick up n play, even after a break, but expansive enough to happily revisit shit youd forgotten.

Confuses me. I can play long ass new games like red dead Redemption 2, but older zelda games I cant.

I basically feel the same about LttP & OoT.
They were amazing for their time, in the 90s & we being kids, but unfortunately too many developers took those same concepts and built better games around them.

Still though, those who have OoT as their #1 GOAT game I can't quite argue with because almost everyone's GOAT games are based on nostalgic emotion.

As for why games like RDR2 & Witcher3 are extremely long and still repayable is because they were meant to be replayed and have different experiences each time. As opposed to OoT & LttP which can only be played by 'going to A, and doing B, then go to C, and do D, etc etc...'

It hasnt died down has it? they release new ones and they all seem to be critically acclaimed.

I loved Ocarina of time but yes, one must admit there is alot of back tracking between towns and FUCK that water stage lol

Some games if you put them down for awhile are really fucking HARD to get back into. I was playing Resident Evil 2 remake and after while I didnt play it, I picked it up again and have NO IDEA what to do, where I am in the game, so i dont even know where to look in a strategy guide to help me. I simply have no fucking idea so its either start the game again or dont play it lmao. It's not like the game tells you. I have ZERO interest in slowly searching every nook and cranny for a clue while being dogged by Mr X

NAH

LTTP is timeless

OoT is a bit dated by nowadays standards though.

"But what a mischievous thing to leave lying around... The Power of Gold... Triforce..."

All these posts, and nobody mentioned the soundtrack? I'd say that's the game's biggest strength.

Can't recall how many times I beat this game, might be my most replayed game. Used to have the guidebook they sold at Gamestop or more likely EB Games since it was so long ago. Was a complete sucker for the split Worlds, and the all the dungeons that I wish every Zelda game had. The art style still looks great IMO. And it's still is very playable on handheld. It's at worst a top 10 game for me.

I’m surprised … that second pic looks like @Contempt Being woking up by me after a night of drinking.

It was great … but for me ocarina of time is the most memorable Zelda of all time …

I mean usually Zelda always brings the FIRE with the music esp the early games GODDAMN

The main theme of these games just tears the asshole out of everything

I had alcohol once since new years... didn't like the way it makes me feel.

Think I'll be taking an extended break from booze.
Good idea , same for me. I’m going strong without it.
