Legacy Wise- is Fedor still a top 10 fighter of all time

I don't think so.
  1. Werdum beat Cain, that says a lot and generally SF and Pride fighters did well to great in UFC.
  2. Hunt who Fedor schooled is still kicking ass
  3. Jack Slack calling him the best striker in MMA is big. Everybody listens to the guy and I doubt he'll change his mind. He'll keep writing more on the Last Emperor.
  4. Fedor soundly beat the UFC's greatest HW Tim Sylvia and it wasn't much past his tenure.

We're old school Sherdoggers. We know what's up. The strength of our voice will continue to diminish in the years to come.

Nah the casuals don't run the media and aren't the Majority Opionion, just troll the forums and bars. All the major journalists/experts and many fighters favor Fedor.

The only expert that really turned on him was Joe Rogan but Rogans behavior has proven to be strange and his fascinations and predictions odd at times. He's eaten crow many a time.

IDK how the guy can have so much background and training and knowledge and be so wrong sometimes, he prolly smokes too much herb.

If anything guys like McGregor coming out to popularity and glory and then going down to a larger opponent, and Cain and Rhonda and all the champs losing just reinforce Fedors greatness.

Jones, GSP, and Silva have made the GOAT talk more of a debate but its pretty hard to argue that any HW has even come close to the legacy Fedor had.

So, yeah. he is still and always will be a legend. Even if you say he isnt GOAT, you gotta give him at the every least, a top 5. Its kinda silly to even suggest he isnt the best HW of all time.

Conor is the Vegas favorite over Nate in the rematch. The casuals are not to be underestimated.

Wow.

Yeah but the majority of press isn't saying that. Jack Slack was pretty harsh on Conor.

To be fair, I don't honestly know on McGregor... I think he needs more fights, he's shown some technical and adaptive stuff and also some pretty silly things and poor tactics so I'm undecided and need to see a few more fights am neutral on the guy.

Yes for sure!!, he is not only top 10, but he is top 5 for me

what is your opinion?

Well I don't think there's any question that he is the undisputed goat, no has been able to remain undefeated in their prime like he did and make no mistake Fedor's loss against Werdum was past his best performances without a doubt anybody that payed close attention to Fedor's fights after his destruction of Sylvia would know that Fedor was regressing in his skills this was quite obvious in the Arlovski fight when Fedor was laying back letting Andrei dictate the pace of the fight, when Fedor took on Mirko in 2005 he stalked Mirko down and engaged first often times winning the exchanges and I don't think anyone would argue that Mirko is that much different of an opponent than Arlovski,in his next fight against Rogers who was a top ten opponent at the time Fedor looked like a fish out of water getting tagged right off the first exchange and this was very uncharacteristic considering Fedor was a very alert fighter that hardly took much damage during his prime where as in this fight he barely made it out.

So taking all that information into account and the fact that
Werdum started fighting seriously later than Fedor it doesn't
take a rocket scientist to figure out that at the time Fedor fought Werdum that Werdum was just beginning to come into his own while Fedor was definitely past his best performances and didn't have much more to prove also
meaning he lacked motivation where as Werdum was extremely hungry and didn't have even close as much mileage as Fedor did, there's simply too much evidence
to support this fact about Fedor's systematic regression.

it's like saying Einstein is one of top 100 physicists of all time.

You guys really don't get tired of these threads.

Avoiding the UFC will hurt him. And over time, people will diminish the importance of Pride as the best HW league of the day.

For all we know, Felix Savon was the greatest boxer of all time. But he never fought in a venue that would prove it.

I agree that not signing with the UFC is not going to help his cause, but I'm not sure if comparing him to an amateur fighter is a little exaggerated.

The time he was ruling Pride, the UFC heavyweight division was incomparable. Pride had a tremendous roster for heavy, and especially light heavy.

I think Fedor's mysterious nature that I spoke of, stems from Pride's inconsistent matchmaking and the fact that they didn't really follow any sort of ranking system to determine his next opponent. So, Fedor had to suffer "side show" matches along with legit talent. But that was a product of the times and I don't think he can really be blamed for that.

I remember similar questions asked when Brock was the champ because Brock was "well on his way" to proving he was the best HW of all time. Then Cain became HW champ and I remember the question was renewed because Cain was well on his way to proving to be the best HW of all time.

He's the GOAT, #1 in my books.

Anyone that doesn't have him in their top 4 is either ignorant or a hater. He's undeniably top-4.

Almost all of the people who put Fedor at 2 or 3 are usually TUF era fans (or later) who weren't around to appreciate the master in action, during his glory years.

I don't think so. Ronda, cowboy, sage, Connor, brad imes, griffin, Mir, Sylvia, Serra, Torres make a solid top ten
