1) When standing in Wrestling/Judo/BJJ which leg do you personally place forward as you attempt to shoot/sweep/etc?
2) Are you left or right handed? Edit: As in which hand you write with
3) Do you find any advantage when you are facing someone who uses the opposite stance? What do you normally try against them?
Cheers!
Over all it depends on who I am up against..if it is someone with wrestling back ground..or judo background..etc..but for the most part...
1. Right leg forward
2. left Handed
3. Varies...
I am a defensive/counter fighter...whether it be striking..I will counter, block and attack, dodge and attack...same is true with my jiujitsu, I am more defensive... Therefore, instead of attacking hard to take them down, I usually wait til they try a takedown...read it, counter or stuff it...and take control off their mistake, or missed take down, this isn't always the case..if we both get our grips, and we are doing our little jig..if I see the opportunity, I will take them down, mainly with judo throws or trips... I do not go for double legs...single leg occasionally... Mainly I look to set up a throw, or trip...I do not pull guard unless I am up against like a black belt in judo or something...(tournament wise) at the gym, I may still stand up with the judo black belt, in order to learn from their attacks and defense...
I lead with right leg, as a decoy..because what I a Thaler want to do if. Am going to attack and look for the takedown, is feint withy right hand grabbing their left collar, to make them defend that, when the grip I actually want is my left on their right lapel...usually when I do that I get the grip I want and their right foot is right were I want it..for this one takedown my brother taught me....I do not know he official name..I just texted him, when I get that info I will post it..but it is pretty sweet...
With his right collar gripped with my left hand..my left foot scoops his right foot up, and I grab it with my right hand..shuffle in and use sweep his other leg and end up in side control or knee on belly....
If that doesn't set up right..I just go with the flow and see what presents it's self...
