Least talented fighter to get a title shot?

Who was the Brazilian bjj guy who kept lying down against Anderson Silva? Thales something? He has to be up there, if only for worst performance in a title fight.

Jessica Eye against Val. Got a title shot coming off a 1-5 streak and got bodied.

All the flyweights who challenged DJ during his run.
And lets not forget Ronda's terror against the soccers moms.

lol I love how Flyweight magically became super competitive once DJ left

Oh wait it didn't. People are just looking for reasons to hate on DJ

Probably all of the weird necros while on double yellows.

I mean all he was doing was saying “someone did ok at something”

that’s mild trolling at the most. Not worthy of banning an ‘05 account, but it’s not surprising here.

The dork who fought Dillashaw on one day’s notice

RIP, but justin eilers has to be high on the list. had zero good wins in his career, and got a title shot coming off a KO loss. yes, HW has always been that bad.

I hope someone has mentioned Elvis Sinosic

Who’s your pick for the fighter with the least amount of skills that still managed to make it to a title fight in the ufc? I’m talking about fighters who never won the belt, so Carla Esparza and Nicco Montano don’t count as an answer lol

I’ll start with an old one, John Alessio fought Pat Miletich for the welterweight title back at ufc 26. Alessio lost and ended up going 0-5 in the ufc. After his long mma career ended he became an Uber driver in Vegas.
Some Russian a few weeks ago did a big ELO analysis, and one of the conlsuions was that the biggest delta was DJ v Tim Elliot. I have no reason to doubt that.

But if we're including the way back olden days, John Lober was 0-6-1 (0-0-0 in UFC) in his last 7 when he fought Frank Shamrock for a belt. That probably wins.

at the time leites was doing pretty well though, he was 14-1 (5 straight in the ufc) and a recent win over marquardt. he embarrassed himself in that title fight but it was really just the one fight, he actually had a pretty decent career.

the butt-scooting was definitely a bad look though.
