Lawler vs Covington

Lawler is my favorite welterweight of all time. Covington supports trump and is a good shit talker. I want him to fight Kamara Snoozeman or Tyquill Woodley so i wouldnt mind him winning.

I've been on the Colby bandwagon since the day that crazy f#$%^er went off on everyone in Brazil.

However, with this fight, I just can't imagine him beating Lawler in this one. Lawler is oh so hungry after the controversial Askren loss. And now since Colby has embarrassed him in the media, I think we might see the Lawler of old come to life this weekend and reestablish his stake in the division. Thoughts?
why do I get the feeling that Lawler is going to KO Colby in Rd 2?

Colby should be the favorite but Lawler looked so damn good in the Askren fight before he made a mistake and I think the same thing is going to happen here minus the mistake. He's going to come out on fire and Colby isn't going to be able to stop him.

Even tho Hendricks took Robbie down a couple of times in both fights, prime Lawler did a great job against him. Robbie already has the talent to ward off Colby. Now whether that version of him shows up or not is the better question.

Colby should be the favorite in this by default

Interesting to see how Colby does against a non-injured Robbie so that we can compare his wrestling prowess with Askren's. Remember, Askren finished Robbie in the first <{1-12}>
Askren didn't finish Robbie though. The ref made an error so that's a hard thing to compare. He did manage to get Robbie down after taking a beating and secure a bulldog choke though.

I'm stuck thinking about the MMAth of if Colby can beat RDA and RDA can beat Lawler then Colby should be able to beat Lawler too.

But I also can't help but think about the fact that Lawler has better TD defense than RDA and being more heavy handed he should also be way more threatening on the feet than RDA was.
RDA beat an injured Lawler with one leg though. Hard fight to judge how this one will go. Colby's best chances are lay and pray with some top heavy GNP. Ride out a decision.

Totally not sure how this one goes; hoping for Covington because I don't see Robbie getting the title back, plus he's older. I do worry for Covington though; he stands right in front of you which is where Lawler wants it.

Looks pretty finished to me. Arm limp as a noodleView attachment 622561 .
I mean I could take a still Frame picture of Robbie hitting Askren and him looking out cold and say the same shit though. Right after that Robbie re positioned his hand after his arm fell down so clearly not finished. Than to too it off he actually gave the ref the thumbs up. Not to many fighters give the thumbs up as a sign of being finished...........

Robbie's arm going limp as a noodle is already grounds for stopping the fight. A veteran like Robbie definitely understands that doing something like that is the absolutely last thing you want to do when you're locked in a choke with the ref breathing down your neck. Robbie was out, at least momentarily, which, again, is reason enough to stop the fight.

I would love Robbie to come back and finish him but I don’t see how. Colby has the pace and wrestling to push Lawler’s cardio to the brink. I don’t see how he will deal with the pressure frankly.

Have to agree here, he was out. You don’t go limp if you are not out. Granted he popped back up, but the rules are when you go out, the fight is done.

This is an awesome fight stylistically. Robbie can obviously finish and can hold his own in the wresting game against most guys. Colby has a fantastic motor and can produce a ton of offense and pressure. He's a hard guy to beat if you cant finish him.

I think its worth noting that there is little chance of Robbie being hurt with strikes here, AND it also bodes well for Robbie that Askren commented that Robbie was the strongest dude he ever tied up with (along with Isaiah Martinez). That is a tremendous statement right there.

Lawler tough as nails and ready to bang, but Colby too much for him at this point in his career. Too many wars.

This fight is hard to predict because Colby was getting pieced up by Maia. Lawler has good Tdd and if his cardio can hold up he can definitely win
