Last food your mom cooked for you?

My mom is a lousy cook. She only made one dish i ever liked, so it was probably that dish. Sliced sausage and sliced potatoes baked in a cast iron pan with butter and onions.
How are you posting from the gold rush times?

Probably cabbage rolls years ago we live very far apart so when she does come here to visit no one expects her to cook. Last meal we had together a few weeks ago was Chinese takeout it was very nice.

Don't knock a simple dish without trying it. Slice up some country sausage links, or rope, slice up some russet potatoes, and chop up some yellow onions, layer the ingredients until it reaches the top of your cast iron pan, add about a half stick of butter chopped into small pieces, and cover with aliminum foil, and poke a hole to vent. Bake at 400F for 45 minutes, remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes. Thank me later. Actually thank my mom.

Fish cutlets (Sri Lankan "hors-deuvres" or however the fuck you spell it)

They are just like crab-cakes and probably my favourite thing on the planet.

Don't sleep on Ma's cooking shersons, thank you for this thread TS

I can’t remember what it was but I know it was terrible.
My mom is a terrible cook. She always has been. She overcooks and underseasons everything. And she has done it that way my entire fucking life.

My mom is the same but she over seasons everything and doesn't know what flavors go together. Most people have fondness for their mom's cooking but my mother just isn't that good even though she learned from her mother, who's a great cook, and has been doing it for decades. I eat her food because I don't want to hurt her feelings but I can cook better than her.

Chicken breasts in mushroom gravy and rice with green onions and carrots, yesterday
