I will give you an example from where I live in the States. I live in a predominantly agricultural region of the country. Everyone I know who owns agricultural land, especially with livestock, owns an AR-15. Those would be the scary, black, military looking rifles with the 30 round magazines. The reason is that coyotes, prairie dogs, raccoons, etc. all are harmful to crops and livestock. Those animals, coyotes especially, usually come in packs, so you need a gun that can shoot multiple, low caliber rounds at a high fps rate. Otherwise they can get into the chickens, pigs, whatever. Prairie dogs dig holes which can break cow or horse legs, and similarly need to be shot by a fast, low caliber round, and usually you need to shoot a multitude of them in quick succession. That doesn’t factor in all the vets in the US who feel most comfortable with a rifle they can rely on, since they grew dependent during their time in service. Hope this helps.
