This guy definitely attended Anti-Trump rallies and was a hardcore progressive. These are things that have been found out already. Denying won't make you feel better or change what if know about this person.

A white man with money and guns is unlikely to fit that description. "Information" often comes out in these situations that turns out to be completely wrong later but will still be believed by many. Maybe the guy got beat at the poker table by someone wearing a cowboy hat. It still doesn't account for him having the guns and ammo. Forgive me if I wait a few days before jumping to conclusions.

I could claim this is a manufactured incident to deflect the news coverage from the incidents of the past weeks but I suspect it's more tragic than that.

Its just an odd situation all around. A random wealthy guy gets his hands on automatic weapons and decides to fire on a large crowd from his hotel in vegas..... no criminal record. No ties to isis it seems ( and yes ISIS HAS falsely taken credit for these type of incidents)

I saw all these reports of people who were there claiming they saw multiple gunman and all this stuff but i guess that was untrue?

And than no that i think about it...with a fully automatic weapon firing into a crowd its insane that he didnt kill more people...

The target's demographic doesn't make much sense for a white male either. So the guess is it's totally random.

But the other guess which is being thrown around is that this guy is similar to the Virginia Congressman/Senator shooting. Where the shooter is a hardcore leftist who short-circuited and was targeting congregated "Trump/GOP" staff/supporters.

That's one thing about this situation that keeps fucking with me. This guy was deliberate in his decision to take that high of ground. (He didn't even have to be that high up i.e 32 floor) Why it bother's me is because at that height I know a couple of things.

1. I'm harder to identify and find. Echo works in my favor in an urban environment.
2. I know first responders (average patrol man) are going to be the first to show up at ground level before the tactical guys come in. That means I know most of them just carry pistols and 870 remmington pump action shotguns. Meaning they are of zero threat to me for returning fire. (on top of which a cop is accountable for *every* round he shoots.)
3. He established platforms and a sector of fire.
4. He took into consideration every little detail, except for the smoke detectors and to be quite honest I doubt anyone outside of a professional hitman would even bother to consider that. Lord knows I actually would not have. That's something that you never run into at firing range, indoor or open. So basically he had all his bases covered except for the smoke detector.

My mind is blown on this one.

Ontop of which he has no known military experience. I know were not dealing with the whole story yet. But this guy makes zero sense, literally zero. He's a clean slate with no suggestive tactical background. I don't know what to say.

Seriously, you don't need any military experience to do what he did. You're acting like this man is fucking some elite operator when in reality he's just a jackass with a gun.

The first thing any real professional would learn is that you don't fire automatic weapons like that. They're used in controlled bursts. This asshole just picked a good vantage point and sprayed up a massive crowd. He's not Jason Bourne, but of course you would think he "had all his bases covered" and would be on here promoting some idiotic conspiracy angle.

If you listen to the closest video of the shooting the rate of fire changes a lot. Slows right down. I don't know of any regular machine gun that does that.

Somebody said this to me in another forum (sorry for cheating on you guys) re supressors:

A silencer will heat up but he had a ton of reload time it would take a few big drums and Probably 600+ continuous rounds with little downtime to cause issue. There are a ton over videos about it on YouTube.

And I'm telling, those concerts are loud. A silencer probably would have made the situation worse...imo. I've shot a few rifles with them nothing larger than .223 but it is A LOT quieter. From 400+ yards and during a loud ass production, Probably would have made things worse.

I know people have answered you but I wanted to add to it.

If we are talking .223/5.56 being used it would still be loud. The sound of the bullet breaking the sound barrier is making a loud crack and it will follow the bullet until it is below the sound barrier(1150 fps roughly). That distance would be about 700-900+ yards.

So far, nothing can be attributed. It's all speculation. This appears to come totally from out of left field.

What we do seem to know is that at least some of the weapons were bought in California and then modified by the user to become automatics. This is actually pretty easy to do. Without getting into the specifics (which are probably all over Google, but I don't want the dubs), you can get a new trigger assembly and file down the firing pins on semi-automatic weapons to make them automatics. You can test your work, possibly sub out the buffer and buffer spring to manage the new recoil, and you're set. Obviously, this guy took the time to go through that process with several weapons, looked up enough stuff to where he could attain a tactical advantage, and then executed his plan. It's a damn shame because a lot of people have unfortunately died because this guy was an evil nutter.

As I stated early on in this thread, it was an open-air event with a somewhat rare ability for a quality vantage point, during an unusually busy weekend for the down-season in Vegas.

Thus far we've heard he is the son of a Bank Robber, he frequented country music events, and was a gambler who liked guns. That's pretty much it.

It can be as simple as when you want to execute the most effective damage, you attack what you know best. And with an outdoor event with a quality vantage point, that's pretty much all it would take once you've hit whatever psychotic breaking point that put him there.
