Television Landman

Yeah they get the blue collar tone right. I never worked on a rig but I've spent time on oilfields and it's not completely ass backwards like a lot of shows - other than the life threatening explosions and accidents every other day lol. M-Tex must have the worst fucking OSHA rating ever.

This. Glad I'm not the only one. They're both stupid AF and the worst part of this show. The old folks home arc redeemed them 10% but it wasn't enough. Those two hobags need to die.

My wife won't watch it because of those two and their entire storyline. Having the daughter as a 17 year old where they talk about all sorts of sex shit with her creeps her out. Then the unrealistic nursing home shit. Now she'll hate watch the show and make fun of me for liking it.

TBF they toned it down a little (only a little) in S2. They're still the most unlikeable characters on the show, but I appreciated the roommate storyline showing Ainsley to be a decent person despite her mom raising her to be a spoiled gold digger hobag.

How'd the flight go? Have any good wine?
Flights went smoothly. Had some really decent French white wine compliments of Emirates. Just had 4 hours sleep and now wide awake at 3am, boo to jet lag.

Did all of S1 on the flights, just grabbed S2 to watch later.

Good to be home though, right?

Cool, I downloaded both but haven't gotten around to watching.

Already being harassed to update my CV :(

Yeah it’s nice. Will take a few days to reacclimate to the cold.

Sounds tedious, but necessary for the next gig. Once it’s done reward yourself with a tasty beverage.

It's updated and out... will do

Yeah, not sure which is worse, cold or the extreme heat we've been having here lately.

The last week of my trip in Brisbane was great, only Australia day was very hot. Nothing some pool beers didn’t fix though.

Not finished with season 2 yet but i want the family to go bankrupt again and the mother and girl be forced to do blue collar work so bad. I am not finished with season 2 but what is the sisters beef with Cooper, at least Cooper benefited society in some way and took a high risk job.

I think the Ainsley/Cooper beef was just sibling rivalry + clash of values and lifestyles. But she still goes to the hospital to check on him when he got his ass beat.

Won't drop any spoilers but yeah, heading into S2 the worst thing about the mom and daughter isn't who they are - gold diggers are a dime a dozen. It's that the writers had them just strutting like hos doing whatever the fuck they want without consequences while every man on the show is like

FOH. Both of them are badly in need of a comeuppance.

I like the wife and daughter because this show obviously takes place in the same universe as Varsity Blues, one of the all time great high school sports movies, and Ali Larters character in Landman is obviously a grown up version of her character in Varsity Blues

The smoking hot teenage cheerleader succubus that would do anything to escape the dust and dreariness of West Canaan, Texas was able to realize her dreams, she married a rich oil man and moved to the glamour and glory of Midland, Texas and became a high maintenance rich milf succubus that is now raising her smoking hot teenage cheerleader daughter in the same fashion

It makes me smile to see long term storyline continuity like that

Varsity Blues was great because everyone gets what they deserve. Landman is the alternate Varsity Blues universe where Ali Larter's character always gets what she wants and never gets rejected. Mox forgets about his gf and waxes dat ass when Darcy kisses him in that whipped cream bikini.

Life is hard in Jerkwater, USA and you gotta do what you gotta do. If Ainsley grew up there, makes sense she'd follow in her mom's footsteps. But she grew up in the lap of luxury before Tommy and Angela split, then upgraded to FU money with the real estate mogul Angela latched on to for the next 10 years.

Angela admitting she was only with that guy for his money before she got bored, crashed through his wall like the Kool Aid man and shook her tits and ass at Tommy is where she lost me. And the stupid fucker TAKES HER BACK. WTF. Granted her 50 yo tits look great but a sexual tyrannosaurus like Tommy can do better, especially given the baggage they have.

Ainsley drops her bf faster than a greased pig when he loses his football scholarship. And changes colleges to TCU just to hook up with the football players. WTF. She's a rich chick who doesn't need to do that.

No issue with strong women using their sexuality to get what they want. But leaving your man when he's down and needs you the most isn't going to make you popular with the audience.

The show is basically a showcase for Billy Bob Thornton to freestyle his shit talking/politically incorrect jokes which hes great at. It’s like Bad Santa with a different setting obviously. He had a show on Amazon called Goliath which is similar I’ve heard.

Like the show a lot

I get nostalgic to construction days when young lol

Also the s2 stripper is hottest character by far imo

The good:

- Billy-Bob
- Texas
- The oil and gas industry
- The scenery

The bad:

- Mother and daughter, endless scenes of the daughter walking around in her underwear in the kitchen
- Water rehab for the old man
- The lawyer's love story

The side stories don't add much substance to the show, I want more of the nitty-gritty of the oil business and Billy-Bob dropping one-liners than discussions about a ferret at a college dorm...
