In late february, after two years, CEO and co-owner and SVP and co-owner walk into my office and say we're terminating your position. I say, may I have a reason. They say it's in the severance letter. (I get home, not a word of why. talk about beta leadership...). Just an hour later they let go of my colleague who had more or less the same role as I had.

On the way out, the SVP tells me he'll give me a recommendation and help any way he can in helping me get a job. I think to myself the following:

1. I'm about to fill this office with uppercuts
2. Why are you letting me go if you're happy with my work?
3. How am I gonna pay for my 85k house, now?

I text a few people in the company saying what happen. Many are apoplectic, some cry, and all say I can use them as references.

I'm now about halfway through my severance (5 weeks; go DIAF co-owners!), have been working the network, applying, signing up for unemployment (sherbros know a thing or two about this!). So far the response has been muted (I have a phone screen tomorrow and am through round two on a different potential job) to my resume and my morale is teetering a bit today.

What advice do you have? I've been using Indeed, Simplyhired, Linked in, and the phone numbers scrawled on your momma's headboard.

TLDR: I'm out of the job and your mom's a whore.

Looking for ways to make extra cash?
Sign up for an Amazon seller account, download the free Amazon seller app.
Use the built in scanner to visit local goodwills and salvation armies... scan every book on the shelf.
You could literally find hundreds of books with an Amazon value of 20$ and more, while paying about 1$ a book...

Niiiiiiiice.

(This is just based off the thread title.)

Time to Uber

You can be the new, yet literal, Uber TS.

Then you sale them on Amazon? You've done this yourself?

Sorry to hear dude. Fuck them dudes. Shit like that makes me glad I’m Union.

yea it's pretty simple as well. Once you get the free seller app, the scanner comes with it, you just hold your phone over the book (like your going to take a picture) then Amazon recognizes the book, and gives you the price that other people have it listed for. You then decide what price you will sell it for, and add it to your inventory..
Yes I do this part time now.. I had a 2200 month in January but usually average about 750-1000 profit each month...
Some of my biggest scores come from good will children's book section (.49 cents a book) I've bought several titles for .49 and sold them for up to 30$

Sorry to hear this man. Wagehounds are nothing more than mice that a cat has by the tail. There's zero courtesy ever extended to employees, but when employees trade up, we're expected to be respectful, give two weeks, finish up loose ends, don't burn bridges, etc.. When when an employer wants you gone, you're gone. I hope you bounce back, and soon. Does your skills allow you to do some consulting work in the field you just left? Might be a quick rebound option.

Dude... hopefully you can get laid and make this thread double true...

Keep on getting on and work your ass off getting a new job.

May I suggest a trade? Maybe an electrical apprentice? It'll suck in the early going and you'll work your ass off, but there's always high demand for good electricians, plus you can transition into Instrumentation and Controls.

My brother has made 20 year career of it and has traveled the country from Alaska to California to Colorado to Montana.... and has had offers in several major cities (he prefers small towns).

He started as an apprentice wiring homes and grocery stores in the mid-90's.

Where do you live that a house is only $85k?

Most companies have someone from human resources do the dirty deed.

Start your own business. Your boss will never make you rich. Work for yourself.

Damn, bro, you got Up In The Air'ed!

It's just business. I've been there, and it sucks, but you need to be professional about it and make sure you don't burn any bridges.

.

What do you do? The only thing i've gathered is the CEO and SVP walked in and fired you(i'm assuming this is a very tiny company as many places the CEO won't even know your first name unless your in a legit leadership role making hundreds of thousands into the millions).
