So UFC 226 is around the corner and they just posted a UFC conference call.

It got me wondering, how does a multi billion dollar company release such bad quality promotion?

The goal is to sell PPVs. There is not a single casual that will listen to some shitty audio for 1 hour.

I don't get it. Haven't they heard about Skype? And where are the live press conferences?

The line up on UFC 226 is huge. Hands down the biggest card of 2018. But their promotion is seriously lacking.

UFC 225 was also a major card and they did basically nothing to promote it. And in return, it didn't sell.

Where is all the promotion? Where are the live press conferences?

UFC 226 is major.

You have successfull up and comers like Brian Ortega, Paulo Costa, Mike Perry. You have a HW beast in Ngannou fighting Lewis. You got champs like Max Holloway and of course Stipe and DC facing each other.

It's just a crazy card.

They should be promoting the fuck out of it.

WME suck balls.

Minimize cost, bank on the ever shrinking hardcore fan base, and keep churning out content because they get most of their revenue outside of PPV.

At least, that's my uneducated guess.

The promotion for UFC 226 has been complete garbage so far. WME gonna WME. No stars in this sport other than Conor. It's sad.

WME runs miss universe and bull riding. What do you guys expect?

ufc is dying

they are saving $ after getting scammed

That's the problem, they are relying on one star to push the promotion.

We've got a huge card with several stars in their own rights but rather then promoting them they just wait for 1 big star.

All WME has done so far is look for quick cash instead of looking at the future.

They would promote the shit out of Conor, Brock Lesnar, GSP card but these guys aren't going to be around forever.

They have failed at promoting any new stars and UFC 226 has plenty.

Stipe: can't speak English/refused to do talk show/not a draw
DC: refuse to create drama with Stipe/not a draw unless matched with Jon Jones
Max: refuse to create drama/not a draw
Ortega: refuse to create drama/not a draw

Only a dumbass would waste extra money on promoting this lot to the casuals. Their casual ROI is abysmal, and all the hardcores are already hooked, there's literally no point wasting money. A smart business would focus on whipping up epic Conor bus attack promos. The <100k irrelevant buys they might miss on these events due to marketing budget cuts can be easily made up with the interest generated by a single viral Conor promo.

International Fight Week... Guess they are going with the "It will sell itself".... Getting $65 from me. But this has been going on for some time.

It's bananas.

Been watching 17 years. These days, shitty promo, I don't buy, I don't talk about it. Hell, sometimes I don't even remember until I come on the forums.

They need to tickle my nut sack these days. Not going out of my way to find out what fights are happening and when.

Ngannou was the only fighter they actually put any effort in promoting outside of Conor (who damn near does all his own promo) post-Ronda

You belong to a small, utterly irrelevant minority even among the hardcores. Whether you buy or not isn't going to affect their bottom line one bit. 226 has most of the hardcores but almost none of the casuals attention, that's a fact. The UFC isn't and shouldn't waste any more money trying to promote a bunch of guys who are not promotable. None of the fighters involved in the main and co-main have any drama or personality that will appeal to the casuals, and most hardcores are already 100% committed, so why the fuck bother wasting extra money? Just do the basic shit and get it over with, wait til Conor or Brock to come back and save the day.

Anyone/everyone I interact with on a daily basis couldnt even name 1 ufc fighter. And yes I hate them all

I agree a champ vs champ fight should be a lot bigger
WME has the resources to get fighters on Kimmel, Conan (who own a small piece of UFC) & they can pull strings to get fighters on other talk shows as well.
I have no idea wtf they don't lol.

But the biggest dog in the fight (Stipe) admits he hates doing press, so it limits them.
But DC loves it, so they could have been getting him out there.

I don't get it either

Kind of a goofy way to look at it.

Drama creates itself when fighters go to press conferences.

GSP was the face of the UFC for years. No heated arguments or beef during press conferences was necessary to sell cards. But the fact that they actually promoted them made it sell.

Then it's on WME. You do not have to rely on coked up roided up jackasses to sell fights, it's WME's job to be innovative and figure out how to sell "their" product.
