I'm a Kurt Russell kind of guy. I like Gibson and the movies he makes, but Kurt has been in some classics.

He was a child actor who started in television, then went to work for Disney to make films like The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, The Barefoot Executive, etc.

His turning point was 1979's Elvis. After that was Used Cars, Escape from New York, etc.

His only standout films missing from the list are, IMO, Overboard and Backdraft.

Both but Kurt Russell because he reminds me of my dad, and he told Billy Bob Thornton are you going to do something or just stand there and bleed.

Kurt Russell by five fortnights, 20,000 leagues, and many light years

I voted Kurt Russell.
Not just because his movies are better. But because he isn’t a raging antisemite, racist, and quack medical science denier.

Usually I can separate the art from the artists. Lord knows I love Clint Eastwood’s movies. And I still like a lot of Mel Gibson’s movies. But he just won’t get the nod if it’s between him and someone who makes great movies and isn’t a bag of shit.

Mel was better everywhere but resume . I like Russell but he wasnt on Mel's level in acting, box office draw, or Directing.

Their resumes are close . Their movie together was one of my favorites as a teen. Tequila sunrise

If this was whos the better human being ... ..... then Russell probably.

I like Mel but I love Kurt. Not too many actors can play cool as well as Kurt does.
Braveheart and We Were Soldiers are epic.... but Mel can't hold Kurt's jock.

Kurt by an rch. Voted on longevity and not much else for the edge

I dig Russel more. Just got a certain mystique about him when doing his roles. He also seems like a real G in interviews and such

And the Thing is the best movie either of them did imo

My three favorite movies out of both catalogs are

Braveheart
The Thing
Escape From New York

IIt's tough to say, probably KR

Mel Gibson usually plays some version of himself because he is classical trained theater actor and kind of insane but self aware insane.

Kurt rarely is himself in any movie. Kurt is like Keanu reeves. Total surfer, pot smoker, extremely laid back near big Lebowski level shit.
You watch movies like soldier, escape from nyc, big trouble little china, tombstone, the thing you can't tell at all what he's actually like. None of those characters are close to him. Then Mel Gibson you see him every movie but with the volume up or down.
Mel gibson is fun to watch but isn't close to Kurt as an actor

I love Mel and everything he's done off screen but if we are just talking about as an actor, then I have to go with Kurt

I just dont really care if one guy gets the most diverse roles, it's how much can they entertain me for 2 hours?

Both guys have done that in spades.

Mel has a natural wild feral-ness to him that tends to put him in roles where that can come out, and that only makes sense. But he has roles like Payback where he can act in an understated way.
