Media Kron Gracie speaks out after pitiful performance at UFC 288

Bjj needs a serious wrestling over-haul

I know the Bjj gym I go to keep my nogi up is starting to change the way classes are taught, for instance they drill wrestling the first 20 min every time now LoL

This is the rash I be wearing LoL

Our Coach always warns us to not pull guard in training cause he thinks it's bullshit, at least for MMA.

Kron had a total of 6 career MMA fights, people with that low experience level don't belong in the UFC other than extraordinary circumstances.

So he's not only ridiculously lacking in experience, he hadn't fought in nearly 4 years, on top of being a specialist.

Too many things working again a BJJ guy living in Montana.
I don’t quite understand the UFC booking him on a main card if he is as inexperienced and inactive as you say. Was it for as shallow a reason as marketing the fight off his famous name alone? Were they exploiting him to prove a point?

It was almost ironically fitting to see such a pitiful one-dimensional performance that could have won the inaugural UFC get humilitated in a 30th anniversary display of the sport.

Feel bad for Kron having to explain that one to himself.

Hughes vs Gracie was way better. Hughes absolutely dominated the man.

He took a dive.

All due respect to the Gracie family but Sakuraba who was not a striker by trade , learned how to strike and beat the shit outta them 20 years ago . How obstinate do you have to be to just refuse to evolve

It’s easy to knock him while his down but I watched all his fights in Rizin and was never afraid to brawl. He will be back imo.

Seriously though, he's never effectively shot in and taken someone down. The closest thing to a takedown was him slipping a punch and clinching Caceras. He has no takedown game.
That said, I was rooting for him simply because I like seeing jiu-jitsu in action.

If he thinks that fight was an attempt to please the jiu jitsu community, he’s very disconnected from the jiu jitsu community.

If he wants to please the jiu jitsu community, fight more like Maia or Jailton.

personally, I think he’s full of shit and making excuses. None of this makes sense. He just sucks and happens to have Gracie in his last name.

He should really go back to Bjj competition. but even then, I feel like he’s been away for so long that the game passed him by. That Gracie combatives BS ain’t gonna fly in Bjj OR MMA.

truth is: he just hasn’t evolved. The game has passed him by. His style is a long forgotten relic of what Bjj and vale tudo used to be. He might be able to beat some cans, but he’s not touching the top 10 in any major fight promotion.

Kron is a gigantic disappointment. I hope he never fights mma again.

A lot of Gracies are extremely delusional and thinks BJJ is all you need to know to be successful in MMA.

“A lot” is a vague standard. If you mean the majority of Gracie’s, I’m still inclined to disagree. At this point in the game, I believe most Gracies understand that you need some striking competence. And takedown ability.

I mean, even Rener espouses the belief that guard is the inferior position. CAN you finish from your back? Yes. Is it ideal to fight from your back? No. I mean, even the leader of the Gracie cult admit that it’s better to be on top in a fight. So I really don’t understand what the hell Kron was thinking. Even his dad Rickson won most fights from top position.

Kron’s strategy made no sense. Even by Gracie standards.

yes not fighting in a fight is bad advice indeed

He better not fight on the main card ever again.. what a complete waste of a fight slot.
