Kron Gracie and the Worlds

Frankly, I'm looking forward to the potential of Kron v. Murilo Santana. I watched him get to the semi's last year, after he had a won Brasiliero's and beat Galvao en route.

Kron would also have his handful with Lucas Leite.

Hey why isn't Marcelo competing?

He has a contract with K-1 to fight. I really think that he's biting off more than he can chew. His stand up is horrible. I hope he doesn't get seriously hurt.

You know little of Kron's standup game, obviously. His takedowns are excellent. See his recent brown belt match in Japan against Junior Cavalcante (sp?), for example. He has excellent judo and wrestling.

I agree with you about Kron's skills in judo and wrestling, they are very good. But, Bill Cooper took him down and in his first match with Octavio Souza ( Pan ams 2007) he got taken down. Also, in one of his matches in the Mundials last year his opponent scored an early takedown on him. Later he ended up winning these fights but it's on the stand up game where I can see somebody scoring on him and, if good enough to hold, winning the fight.

EDIT NOTE: On my first post I wrote that Kron's biggest challenge would be Lucas Lepri, current champion. Lucas Lepri is the current champion of the lightweight division. I meant to say Lucas Leite, current champion (along with Galvao) middleweight division where Kron usually fights. Sorry.

I would love to see Kron v. Maia, Barral, Galvao, or Marcelo. I think Kron would lose to all of them though.

galvao will own him if they fight. that being said kron will compete in medium and galvao at medium heavy. I doubt kron goes for the absolute this year

Yeah, I'd be very surprised if he went for the absolute in not only his first Mundial at Black Belt, but his first tournament.
