Kron is looking unstopable at brown belt! That inverted gaurd stuff looks dangerous if you tried it outside a grappling comp(mma or selfdef).

Havn't seen that move before, thanks. Krons game looks really tight, maybe time to give the guy his black belt...

I wouldnt give him BB either, he is just a kid yet (like 19 years old.). I would hold him as a brown for a year to get experience and then promote him

Otavio isn't much older and he got his black! I think it's controversial keeping Kron at brown.

Because you know better than Rickson?

Here's an interview where Kron addresses the issue. I agree with his view that competition success is just one part of what you need to do to get a BB.

I thought you get a belt based on how well you do against other people, or are other things to consider? Is age really a factor?

  11. I think he will get the belt when he reaches the level Rickson was at when he got his black belt.

He got silver in his weight.

I think that is pretty good.

yea just imagine him at 19 up against Jacare, or Andrea Galvo, or tarsis humpheys who all compete at middle weight also at the BB level.

Well unless your idea of doing well consists only of getting gold...

I thought Jacare and Tarsys are middle-heavy, and andre goes back and forth.

I thought it was a pretty well understood "rumor" that Kron will do the 2008 Mundials at Brown and then Rickson will most likely give him his black. There is no doubt that he's probably better than a lot of current black belts but that's not good enough. He's Rickson freakin' Gracie's son. He has to be better than most of them before getting his Black. I, for one, can't wait to see him start going up against the best of the best!!

I tend to agree. We are speaking of Rickson here, afterall.

IMO the only reason he doesn't have his blackbelt is that Rickson doesn't want him to lose. Or wants him to be at a level where he stands a good chance of winning.

Technically and performance wise he is better then most blackbelts. I can't think of any other reason for him not to have a blackbelt.
