Knocked out 18 times.

He gets paid millions of dollars to do what he loves. It would be hard for anyone to let go of that life.

It's hard to stop fighting when that's all you've known your whole life.

He legitimately loves fighting.

And hes been getting paid like a cool mil per fight the last few years too, that helps.

Probably #1 in Career UFC announced salary, I'd guess either him or Brock.

EDIT: Nevermind... Conor

We're all going to end up as ashes, might as well do what you love while you can.

Unless your goal is to be the healthiest guy to ever lay in a coffin.

Chasing what you love is great and all, but I'm sure Overeem would also love to be around for his family, see his daughters get married and actually remember who they are when he's in his 40s and 50s.

He keeps winning fights and managing to get to the cusp of a title fight.

To be rich, famous, combat athlete and a shorter life span

Or
Struggling, faded star, doing seminars and a longer life

It’s not like the last 10-15 years of your life are full of fun. Get more out of a shorter coherent life span IMO

You might be drooling and incoherent when you are 45. In CTE, a protein called tau misfolds and malfunctions, causes other proteins to misfold, and sets off a chain reaction where this malfunctioning tau slowly spreads throughout the brain, killing brain cells. CTE has been seen in people as young as 17, but symptoms do not generally begin appearing until years after the onset of head impacts.

Overeem still carries it.

With all due respect, this is like quoting one of the few reports that global warming does not exist. This is an isolated report, there are hundreds of reports that say otherwise. Several organizations, including the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and Brain Injury Research Institute are investing millions in CTE research, the Alzheimer's Association has invested millions in research grants to learn more about CTE.

Fair enough, I thought you were going to flame me for posting that.

I’m just saying that there is a bit more to the CTE story than the average sherdogger is aware of.

As a boxing fan, I think there’s a large amount of anecdotal evidence that it exists, I do think that it has been over stated by many modern media reports.

There are also people in their thirties and forties who develop brain diseases without having participated in a contact sport.

His voice doesn’t seem to match what he looks like. His brother was a decent fighter, but no where near his level. Was it them that beat up those bouncers? I know bas did, Dan Henderson and randy beat the shit out a bunch of them

Joe lewis was hard to watch in his old age. But foreman is doing great

Or he could choose how to live his life without nanny society members telling him what to do?

15 losses by KO in MMA and 3 times in K1.
Ridiculous amount of brain traumas. What is he trying to prove?
We are talking about Alistair Overeem ladies and gents.
