15 losses by KO in MMA and 3 times in K1.
Ridiculous amount of brain traumas. What is he trying to prove?
We are talking about Alistair Overeem ladies and gents.

Most CTE is acquired in the gym from repetitive and frequent blows to the head, not from KOs. Damage sustained in a fight is the tip of the CTE iceberg for most fighters who spar hard.

If I was offered the kind of money Overeem gets I'd happily sign up to get KTFO by Ngannou.

A drawn out Tko by a HW is alot worse then a flash KO. Ie Some of the absolute floggings Mir received.

Dutch fighters are famous for their heavy sparring. I think he got damaged during training as well.

Been knocked out 5 times by sports accidents. A few years in between ofc. Still managed to get a masters degree without learning and 40% presence. Every brain is different.

But Overeem took took thousands of punches in training and is still sharper than 95% of the roster. Which is pretty impressive.

This is somewhat true but misleading. There is a clear correlation with KOs and TKOs causing CTE. A KO or TKO is a traumatic brain injury or concussion. Repeated episodes of concussion is one of the leading causes of CTE. Reem should be concerned and needs to step away from competing.

You might be drooling and incoherent when you are 45. In CTE, a protein called tau misfolds and malfunctions, causes other proteins to misfold, and sets off a chain reaction where this malfunctioning tau slowly spreads throughout the brain, killing brain cells. CTE has been seen in people as young as 17, but symptoms do not generally begin appearing until years after the onset of head impacts.

Yes, and who knows how many times he's been KO'd or rocked hard in the gym, after over 20 years of training hard? We know how hard those Dutch kickboxing gyms sparred back then.

I hate to say it because I've been a big fan of Reem since his Pride days, but you have to wonder what kind of quality of life he's going to have as he moves farther into his 40s and 50s. He's likely taken more head trauma than even Gary Goodridge, and we know what kind of state Gary has been in since he retired.
