I do know that Machado isn't putting up with it. He won't let Pittman's "Black Belts" wear higher than a blue in his facility or tournaments.

So, despite Pittman's affiliation, Machado does not support Pittman's ideas or system? Thank God.

Only a phenom is going to achieve BB proficiency within 300 classes. And I'd say less than 1% have phenom potential. Furthermore, students should be more worried about proficiency than rank. Again, I hope Carlos Machado comes down hard on these guys and they get booted out of the IBJJF.

Crap just got really really real on this topic....

Pittman promoted some KID to a SEVENTH (YES 7TH) DEGREE Junior Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. It's all over the internet. Bruno Bastos Called him out on Facebook and tagged 140+ other black belts... Here is the link.

BTW...You can get a "Pittman's BJJ Black Belt in 2 years, and then earn your red band in 6 months or less".....ummmmmmmm can anyone say McDojo. What a shame. This guy is supposed to be a legit BJJ player, but he's coin this kinda crap. Also heard everyone is really in question as to how he got his 5th degree black belt under Royce Gracie so quick after getting his 4th just a year or so before under Carlos Machado.

Might be a silly question since it seems logic doesn't apply to this situation, but how can you promote someone to a rank higher than what you hold, i.e. giving someone a 7th degree black belt?

Because it's a kid belt, a 7th degree kid black belt. Apparently you start over at white belt in their system when you're an adult, very fucking weird.

(I'd rather get a blackbelt from David Lang than Pittman at this point lol)

Actually that was one of the arguments that one of Pittman's rep used to support their stance...He basically contradicted himself.
He said, "He's not a 7th degree Black Belt...he's a jr black belt until he turns 16, and then he gets his adult black belt."

So basically he's an adult black belt without the title (which means he's an adult level black belt) until he turns 16.

He doesn't have to start over, start at blue, or even start at brown....he's a black belt.

I hate it but, Carlos just lost a ton of fans and even more respect. It stinks because I REALLY respected Carlos as a BJJ legend until this, but he is not only supporting this (seemingly) he's also letting them walk in the door as a high blue or low purple belt equivalent now. But here's what this says to me.... "I'm endorsing this without endorsing this" If you endorse this...keep them at a Black Belt. Otherwise Don't endorse it and demote them to High Blue or Purple.

He "endorsed him" without "endorsing him". He said he endorses him and puts Pittman's black belts at a high blue or low purple according to their skill level. If you endorse someone as a black belt, keep them as a black belt. If you don't, tell the dude he is wrong for doing what he's doing.

Klay doesn't compete anymore and hasn't in many many years. He competed back when there was him and a few other brown belts in the entire US from what I've gathered.
