Khamzat vs Prime Anderson Silva

people are just excited, i haven't seen this much excitement for a while.
 
Stylisticly is a nightmare for Silva, he always struggled against wrestlers. He had a good defensive guard which sometimes gave him a submission victory or the other times the round was finished and he stood back up and managed to win with strikes.

Not to forget that Khamzat is a newer generation of fighter.

Tough call. A path to victory exists for both fighters. I think back to Anderson's "Where’s your jiu-jitsu now, playboy?" line against Maia. I do fully realize Maia's takedowns, at that time, were ridiculously bad compared to current Khamzat, but nonetheless ruthless from Anderson.

Anderson fought best when angry, Khamzat could make him angry. Unfortunately for Anderson, it might not matter against a grappler as complete as Khamzat.

Again tough call, but as of right this second? I'd pick Anderson because he is one of the greatest to ever do it. See what happens against DDP.

Clowning or not it seemed like Silva passed his prime by the time he fought Weidman.
 
I think Chimaev might be the most overrated MMA fighter, ever. He still hasn’t beaten an excellent fighter who was at the top of his game when they fought him. Struggled with an undersized Burns, struggled with past his prime Usman fighting on short notice…at this point, he doesn’t belong in the same sentence with Silva.

I get where you're coming from, but if chael can take down silva at will, Khamzat would ragdoll him violently. Chaels groundgame is not nearly as strong as khamzats submission game and GNP. Khamzat takes you down then finishes you.

It's not that khamzat is a better fighter than silva, It's that Silva is an incredibly easy match up for Khamzat stylistically. Andersons BJJ is good but his Wrestling defense is poor.

Prime Andy simply could not lose to anyone. It was almost like some voodoo shit. Also, he was clearly injured vs sonnen 1.

I'm still not totally convinced chimaev is a better wrestler than sonnen anyway. More dangerous for sure on submissions, but he's only truly dangerous on the first round and maybe second. He gasses afterwards and gets embarassed on the feet vs Silva.

To beat that version of Silva you would need Jon Jones levels of strength and fight IQ, which chimmy (for as good as he is) doesn't have.

I fail to see how Silva only has 20 seconds until he's apparentely ragdolled and submitted. Anderson stuffs that shit and smashes him. This is a clear case of riding a new wave, who has never fought a fighter like Anderson Silva before, but is surfing that hype.

Anderson had a rib injury going into the Chael fight, confirmed with x-rays and told on the Like Water documentary. We all saw what happened in the rematch.

Chael or Weidman are not even half the wrestlers Chimaev is, Bro is a national champion from the muslim part of Russia. those guys throw around people at weidman's skill level like training dummies. Just watch Abdul Rasheed Sadulaev's(current best wrestler some say the wrestling GOAT) highlights in youtube to get an idea. e.g

Yeah, I think Anderson was coming down from his peak at that point. But I still think he would've won if he hadn't started acting like a fool.
