D D DD DDUHHHHH WANTED NO PART OF GILBERTS BJJ

why’d he take him down a couple times then.

Only because people got (way) too carried away.

Most rational minded people still saw him as somewhat of an unknown.
Assertions that he was going to run through Colby and Usman back to back were (and are) completely outlandish, and clearly the ramblings of a deranged mind.

The way people were getting carried away, ANYTHING LESS than a first or second round flawless finish was going to be disappointing.
So you reap what you sow.

Yeah there's no denying almost all of what you said.

However, I don't agree with Khamzat being a legit threat to Kamaru. Khamzat is somewhat of a threat to Colby though so there's that fight.

I think we're back on solid ground with the hype after being in the stratosphere, but the guy just beat the number two welterweight in a war in his fourth UFC bout. I think the logical aspect of his previous hype was justified, not the absolute bat shit insane hype, however.

Imagine if Khabib avoided the ground game... of two guys he never fought...

His first take down when they were completely fresh took a lot of effort and he couldn't hold Burns down. He's not taking down Usman or Colby.

I think you need to rewatch the fight, Khamzat stood up because he didn't want to stay in Burns guard. Khamzat got the best of him in all scrambles.

I don't disagree that Colby and Usman will be harder to take down than Burns, but to say for sure he's not taking them down? That's a lot of extrapolation right there, Burns has good wrestling...

Even if he's the #2 guy now, and even if he's a legit threat to Usman, he sabotaged his hype.

He's just another contender. Was too hittable, too emotional, too sloppy, got cracked, and wanted no part of Burns' bjj. Imagine Habeeb avoiding takedowns because of Charlie's Olives or Tony's submission threat. And Burns has 1 sub in 6 years. While it was still the smart move, we all thought he'd be ragdolling the WWs ,, hype is long gone imo

I agree with everything you said ... but disagree with the conclusion

"Hype" is empty nonsense, at the end of the day.

Speaking of Khabib, you don't think he looked like shit against veteran Gleison Tibau? Khabib's hype went away also.

Khabib couldn't even take down Tibau — and got taken down himself, twice.

Khabib learned a lot in that fight — and Khamzat learned a lot in his fight also.
An important similarity is that Khabib always kept coming forward — and so did Khamzat.

Khabib went on to live up to his hype, and then some, and so will Khamzat.

Khamzat is a young fighter, dude, give him a break.

The important take away is not to shit on him, but to realize he never stopped trying to win — and, in fact, he did win ... over the #2 WW in only his third UFC outing.

he said he got too obsessed with trying to knock gilbert out, and didnt even listen to his coaches.

khamzat did wrestle him so…?

He said he abandoned the wrestling when he felt Gilbert going for an armbar, and didnt wanna deal with it again

He retains his title as The Emperor Lord Chad God,so thats all he needs

If the hype is gone it's only cause people were overrating him or underrating Burns. Styles make fights and other than Burns there aren't many guys at WW with one shot KO power and a dangerous submission game as well.

Or, OR...
Khamzat was untested before the fight and you guys got way too carried away over how well he'd perform?

How about that, rather than blaming Till? Lol.

Khabib didn't fight Tony or Charles. We don't know what he would have done.

Hype evaporated. Gasmat fans doing pr work. Damage control as if he just lost the fight. Lol

I did rewatch it, the first round when Khamzat when for a takedown, he had to use a lot of effort to take Burns down and then he couldn't maintain top control. I think it's as likely Usman or Colby takes down Khamzat as it is he takes them down.

I think he has more hype than ever. Beat the # 2 or 3 guy, showed he has a chin and cardio, and by my estimate that was his worst matchup in the division. All he needs to do is tighten up his striking and gameplaning a bit and he could easily be a double champ.
