I do think it’s a standup affair as well. Colby can absolutely be dropped. But he recovers and throws volume. I thought he won 3 rounds against Usman earning the draw. But regardless, he has shown competence standing. It will be an interesting fight. Who will win that fight is far from clear. Both have good paths to victory.

One thing is for sure, i will not miss that one

Probably because someone didn't have guts to move up to his original weight class nor fight someone like Burns, world BJJ champion with punching power.
What are you talking about, Khamzat is wayyyy bigger at WW than Khabib ever was at LW.
You're talking as if Khabib and Khamzat were the same size and that Khamzat were the only one to have the balls to move up to WW, lol

Honestly I think win or lose here isn't really that important. We all saw the fight, and that he's still far from expectations (it's the expectations that were stupid, khamzat is still good), although Burns' performance was incredible. But he's really young and got potential to exploit, so wait and see ! He's not the only talented fighter.

Now people are saying Burns is a BJJ blackbelt,so is RDA suckers and Khabib didnt leave his grappling. He would get his TD denied multiple times but would still do for his TD and stay on his gameplan. Khamzat got scared of the armbar attempt and didnt dare grappling. Not knocking Khamzat he did well for a guy with just 5 UFC fights he has a good rise in this division. I would give him the loser of Belal vs Luque next just so he is not rushed against Colby,Leon or Usman

Khamzat is so good/legit that because he didn't beat the #2 WW in 7 seconds the narrative has now shifted to "Usman will smash him" or "Colby will smash him".

.

Actually no. This a poor account of what is going on. The hype around Khamzat is that he would run through everyone. Now it is clear to everyone that that is not true. People got a good view of his skill set and are now doing their "mma math"

He's super legit, a very real contender, but he's not this mythical beast anymore. Not at the moment anyway. If Khamzat fanatics can't handle that, that's on them.

Edit: I don't know why people want their fighter crushes to be invincible supermen. It takes the fun, excitement. anticipation and intrigue out of fights. If every champ and mega-hyped fighter handled their opponents like how Khamzat handled Li Jingliang or how Volk handled KZ tonight, shit might get boring. Nothing wrong with facing some adversity.

Bro, Burns rocked Usman bad. Burns would maul Colby.

The narrative shifted to Chimmy slows in the second round and is gassed by the third and would get grinded out by a guy who has no trouble wrestlefucking people for 5 rounds.

I agree and disagree.
Burns is a 155'er. Khamzat's a 185'er.

The biggest negative coming out of this fight for Khamzat is he's gonna lose his feelings of invincibility. So much of fighting is mental. And with Colby going into full trash talk shouting mode for their fight it might effect his performance at least for the first round or two.

Let's not forget this a fighter without much experience.

Lol was not narrow at all. Dude clearly won rounds 1 and 3.
3rd was close enough, I gave it to Khamzat, but was impressed that he won that round after facing significant adversity for the first time in the 2nd round. Next challenge should be a 5 round main event against either Colby or even the winner of Luque/Belal. Needs another win prior to a title shot imo.
