I began to truly appreciate Khabib’s greatness during the moments when Burns was piecing up Khamzat. Khamzat got cut, dropped, and was in real trouble at times in this fight. Something which never happened to Khabib. Even in the controversial Tibau fight, he never got beat up as badly as Khamzat did.
To be fair, both MJ and Gaethje landed some hard shots on Khabib, and MJ stunned him briefly. It wasn't nearly as bad as Khamzat tonight, but anyone can eat hard shots and anyone can ultimately get caught. Khabib had an amazing career but sooner or later someone would either catch him or at least stun him badly if he continued fighting.

Burns.Sterling and Tecia won imo. Not everyone is agreeing tonight I see lol

i wonder if kadyrov goes running back to khabib after this fight

Anyone who thought Burns won round 3 is just a khamzat hater. Clearly delusional otherwise.

According to the fight stats on ufc.com (for what it's worth), it's the exact opposite. Burns had more total strikes and significant strikes in the 3rd round.

I seem to remember Khabib handling prime RDA, a high level BJJ fighter, with ease. He also never got rocked by Conor, Justin, MJ, or Dustin.

But I do agree this was a huge jump for Khamzat and I think the UFC learned a lesson by pushing yet another prospect too quickly. A side benefit of the UFC not pushing Khabib was that he gained experience and honed his skills before he fought the best.

Khamzat is already 27, he's no spring chicken. He
Nope. If Clay Guida (small enough to cut to FW and has been subbed multiple times) can LnP Nate, you better believe Khamzat can if necessary. Dong Hyun Kim did as well, and he's not the same level of fighter at Khamzat. Nate wouldn't hurt Khamzat with his striking and Khamzat could choose where the fight went. He could hold Nate against the cage or LnP if he needed to.

Lol comparing Clay Guida's cardio to Khamzat's. Clay has shown to be able to wrestling non stop for 5 rounds.

Khamzat has shown he can't even wrestle for 1 round.

Khamzat cardio is shit

People who are shitting on Burns for losing to Hooker need to remember that weight classes matter. Whittaker lost to Court fucking McGee at WW but proved to be an elite MW. Gilbert is an elite WW, his performance at LW shouldn't disqualify him from being considered a great fighter.

The non top10 fighter just beat the #2 ranked WW in the world in fight 11.

The "hype" train is no more. Like I said all along, he's the real deal. All the fucking idiots here telling me I was wrong can suck a dick lol

You're welcome.

Khamzat was a heavy favorite, the odds had Burns at +500.

A rematch would have the odds even.

The odds translates to public perception, Khamzats stock has dropped.

His hype overshadowed his accomplishment sadly.

Man you're over here tripping over yourself trying to downplay khamzat beating the 2nd best fighter in the division by a UNANIMOUS decision. Every judge everywhere had it for chimaev. No it wasn't a finish like many expected. But it almost was in the 1st. He clearly has cardio issues, but he still knocked off his 2nd hardest challenge unanimously.

He is a terrible match up for colby.
Sure Colby has a good cardio but Chimaev to.
Wrestling wise it will be 50/50 probably or it could go for Chimaev.
Then comes the striking department and well thats why its a very bad match up for covington.
Chimaev hasn’t proven he’s a better striker than Colby nor Usman. He clearly carries power early and has a mean uppercut but the standup department is by no means decided on who is better.

Train hype derailed, khamshot absorb more strikes, couldnt take down burns, bled/bruised all over his face and lost more rounds than namgadevov = suck on it.

I think the issue is that everyone expected Khamzat to literally kill Burns in 30 seconds

But what happened was a close decision, one in which Khamzat got dropped at least twice maybe more (even when he didn't fall, he got clocked clean plenty of times)

Which is fine against someone like burns, but again the hype was that Burns was a bum and Khamzat would kill him

The hype was that he's the next MJ, the next Jones, Prodigy, etc etc. Ariel Helwani said that Burns wont take Khamzat to deep water. even I feel for it.

And Burns might be the #2 on paper, but a lot of people don't actually consider him that

Colby and maybe even Leon, Luque might be above him. And above everyone else is Usman

Between colby and chimaev, it will be a stand up affair dont you think ?
I mean i dont see colby bringing down chimaev, yet they will trade and with intensity similar to what we saw tonight, i dont see colby surviving those kind of exchanges.
Kamaru its something else

Khabib would ragdoll Burns

Chimaev still beats Izzy/Usman/Colby because styles make fights and he will take them all down

Khamzat was less gassed than Burns tonight by the end. We have no idea how much cardio he'd expend laying on top of a skinny, undersized LW like Nate. You may want to shore up on basic physics and physiology before comparing a guy who belongs at FW (Guida) to a fighter who could easily fight at MW.
