True. Even when he got hurt in the second round he immediately and easily took Burns down and ended the round on top. Hes a dominant wrestler, even when hes hurt his composure is excellent.

its a game plan, look at gilbert record, he lost to strikings TKOs KOs, and is a worldwide BJJ champ. Thats why khamzat corner plan was to basically get a lucky TKO or KO and not take a risk going to the ground with a BJJ Champ and get submitted

If khamzat gets a better gameplan he can easily beat Usman/Colby. He was coming forward for the whole fight and he still beat up burns. After the first takedown he didn't even threaten it for the rest of the fight.

Even if he comes in like today with this "I'm gona dominate my opponent" gameplan I can still see him winning.

he hit every takedown he tried. was just a dumb game plan. He may not have finished Burns on the ground, but he could have wrestled him to a decision, totally unscathed. But at least he proved he has heart and chin, as well as 15 mins of hard cardio. He isn’t a frontrunner either and never gave up.

He's not outwresting him and he's not knocking him out. Khamzat will walk through Colby. Burns is a much more difficult stylistic match up. If burns can't out wrestle him Colby can't. Sneaking a points win and not getting hit would he his only hope that's why he's after Laws and no top 5 guys

when you start counting how much the punches hurt you know you are giving it to your favourite fighter. Khamzat touched Burns more times than the other way round in round 3. No one got dropped. Which punches did more damage is anyone's guess

Nah, I'm not partial to either fighter. I'm just calling it like I saw it. In Round 2 and 3, it seemed like Khamzat was getting knocked off balance more by each power punch from Burns than the other way around, and it seemed like Burns' power punches in those rounds had more pop to them than Khamzat's power punches.

In any case, the judges called it for Khamzat, so it is what it is.

He is a terrible match up for colby.
Sure Colby has a good cardio but Chimaev to.
Wrestling wise it will be 50/50 probably or it could go for Chimaev.
Then comes the striking department and well thats why its a very bad match up for covington.

Khamzat isn't finishing Nate on the ground, and won't have the cardio to keep up with Nate for 5 rounds.

Also Nate is far more dangerous than Burns on the ground, Khamzat wasn't comfortable ontop of Burns, Nate's BJJ could deter Khamzat's Ground just as easily.

Nope. If Clay Guida (small enough to cut to FW and has been subbed multiple times) can LnP Nate, you better believe Khamzat can if necessary. Dong Hyun Kim did as well, and he's not the same level of fighter at Khamzat. Nate wouldn't hurt Khamzat with his striking and Khamzat could choose where the fight went. He could hold Nate against the cage or LnP if he needed to.

No, he couldn't have. Like Khamzat admitted in the post-fight interview, Burns was a lot stronger than he anitcipated. He didn't control Burns for long because he couldn't.
