Some MMA fans are so fickle. Dude beats 3rd best fighter in the division in his 5th fight and that wasn't good enough. I think his performance was effected by anxiety. Big crowd, people's main event, big jump in competition and he still got the W

Some would argue 2nd best in division.
People were going to hate if it wasnt a first round KO. Just the way it is. The doubters will of course be remembered a bit later.

Are we really going to pretend Burns is a slouch? lol.

It reinforced my previous perspective - Usman and Colby are tough fights for anyone at 170 and they would be for Khamzat. At least I now know Khamzat has a chin; can overcome adversity; doesn't wilt under pressure; can win a tough fight when things don't go his way.
I honestly think Colby is a much easier fight for Khamzat than Burns was. He presents zero threat from his back, and vs Chimaev he's going to end up there eventually. I agree with the rest of your post though.

Just rewatched, clearly 2x1 for Khamzat.
Chimaev avoided the ground, he's not like Khabib or Islam, so the fight was tougher. You need to improve your BJJ.
Against Colby you will be able to gnp smoothly, as well as take the back.

yes, I already knew he would be no match or colby or usman but I didn't realize how wrong I was. He doesn't even belong in the cage with either of them, that is how far behind he is.
Are you fucking high?

yawn.

this site is a dumpster full of dogshit the day after events lmao.

khamzat couldve won by submission and people would say its cause he was scared to stand, could win by knockout and it was cause he was scared of gilberts ground game.
no one would have said that

Weird that you're harping on his inactivity given he won the 3rd round after facing adversity for the first time during the 2nd round. Seems the definition of showing heart if anything. I never thought he'd beat the elite MWs and the double champ stuff was pure hype but he showed he's up there at WW tonight and won't be an easy out for anybody.
yeah hes a regular top 5 fighter, not a world beater like EVERYONE was saying. way to move the goal posts.

He did show heart but he’s overhyped. Btw, am I the only one annoyed with the whole “he’s huge for the weight class” talk? Dude reportedly weighed in at 190 the day of the fight. Burns is on record in his vlog a week out from the fight weighing in at like 192. Some of you really can’t tell the difference between being taller and being bigger.
burns had bigger frame just look at the neck and the skull jaw size and even the leg size

He lacks experience. He is great but they threw him to early in the shark tank. He s emotional and need to learn to fight smarter.
Still a miracle he pulled it off.
so we went from "this guy is going to walk through usman and become double champ" to "it's a miracle he beat burns in a razor close decision." <45><45><45>

Before Burns fight I had:

Islam %30 v Khamzat %70 - 170 lbs

Colby %40 v Khamzat %60 - 170 lbs

Usman %50 v Khamzat %50 - 170 lbs

Adesanya %40 v Khamzat %60 - 185 lbs

After Burns fight:

Islam %40 v Khamzat %60 - 170 lbs

Colby %50 v Khamzat %50 - 170 lbs

Usman %60 v Khamzat %40 - 170 lbs

Adesanya %50 v Khamzat %50 - 185 lbs
Styles make fights, I think Burns just really went for it and optimized himself for Zat. This will probably be a wild one off for Zat like Kelvin was to Izzy. Who else at WW has as good of a ground game as Burns and as much speed & power? Luque is close to it, but I think he'd get overwhelmed on the ground.

Colby has superior cardio, but he couldn't take Zat down and he doesn't have enough power to bother him on the feet. Usman has it all, but there's that time bomb of his mounting injuries.

I think Zat beats Izzy when he gets there. Especially at MW with more power and durability. As I feel it would be one big torrent of no ego bullshit take down spamming.

Ironically, I don't think Islam has had a Burns-level test yet. It's not his fault the opposition has been so easy or favorable, but I have no clue how he'd react vs adversity on every front - cardio, striking, power, grappling - which Khamzat would definitely offer him.

Anyway, I enjoyed this fight. Zat is a certified elite contender. Everyone's doubting his GOAT potential when all I really wanted was just quality fresh face at WW rankings.

He pretty much face planted at round 2, then went for a takedown and was all smiles a minute later. He may have shown he won't be champ at 170, however questioning his heart is just foolish

so we went from "this guy is going to walk through usman and become double champ" to "it's a miracle he beat burns in a razor close decision." <45><45><45>
No i always thought khamzat loses to both

Colby is a way easier fight for him than Burns ever was going to be. He's a worse wrestler, he has essentially no submission skills from his back (where he's going to end up), and he's definitely not a better striker.

Colby doesn’t crack like Burns does, so Khamzat won’t be as fazed by him in the standup.

Would have won 300 bucks with 10 if Burns had won, but not suprised Khamzat took it. (I got Volk and Sterling right)

lmao it'll be a horrendous year if that ends up being FOTY

It’ll be a horrendous year on Sherdog if you make more threads. The crowd reaction for that fight tells you everything you need to know about what the fans thought.
