Indirectly throws Shades at Jon Jones for running from Tom Aspinall. I think most of these Dagestani fighters have 0 respect for Jon Jones due to running from Tom and Ngannou.

Khazmat isn't from Dagestan, but has said innumerable times that Jones is the goat

So has khabib, so has his father Abdulmanap

So has Islam

The Dagestanis almost all view him as the best ever

What a fail of a post.. lol

Not running? DDP literally asked to fight him on multiple occasions.

Well yah, the only running Dricus does is when he's trying to suddenly close the distance.

Not running....DDP called Khazmat OUT which I remember specifically surprising me

lol when they start getting those Vs and Zs in the name they must be from Dagestan, eh TS?

Because two times Jones beat the crap out of their surrogate father DC who spanks them in training daily.

DC himself pound for pound in his prime is better than any dagestani fighter.

People underestimate that win heavily.

But yeah, they know on a personal level just how good jones is. Both by watching and having insider knowledge through DC, who knows better than anyone.

Yes you are right, Khamzat is not a dagestan fighter. I keep forgetting he is because he has the same facial hair as khabib and Islam.

I haven't heard Khamzat refer to Jones as the goat after he decided to retire. Him glazing of Jones was before 2025 when he was still looked at as a respected fighter. However, his running from Tom has likely swered the way a lot of fighters view him. Some like Ank have even called him out on being a coward for not facing his interim.

To put this another way. Many people likely would have considered Kevin Spacey, the G.O.A.T. actor before his controversial issues regarding kids came about. Opinions aren't static, they change over time.

And Khamzat respect DDP because he actively faces his tough opponents rather than run from them. For a guy like Khamzat who has stated he doesn't care about titles and just want to smash, how can he respect a man like Jones now who actively ran from his toughest challenge?

Like who? Most fighters I've seen have said he's accomplished everything he can possibly accomplish in the sport, fought for 17 years and can do what he wants.

His legacy is secured and whether he wins, loses, fights again or not, it's set in stone.

Jones said he wants to fight legends, guys with names. Which is exactly what Poirier said. That he wants to fight legends, not up and comers.

Fighters understand this and respect it, especially when you've been in the game for so long. Jones is the only guy other than Jim Miller who's been in the ufc this long, everyone from his era is retired.

What you're describing is predominantly a fan driven narrative, but you're projecting it onto fighters, most of whom have continued to speak positively about his talent, accomplishments and legacy.

Jones is the most talented and accomplished fighter this sport has ever seen. That doesn't magically change for any rational person because they decide not to take a high risk / low reward fight at 37 years old.

Maybe if it happened in his prime, the outrage would make sense.

They've all actively shown respect to him

But in your mind "how can they possibly respect him"

ask yourself who has more credibility, random white belt sherdogger, or some of the scariest fighters in mma history

Have you ever considered that the flaws in perception lie in you? Not them?
