Khabib's Resume

Its not just about what names are on his resume, its how he beat them. Total domination.

All this coming from the lil man.

Correlation not causation bro.

I’m talking his record...

And umm... yeah that’s it.

Khabib is an amazing talent, but when I look at his resume, I cannot understand how people call him the GOAT @ LW. Khahbib has only had to face 1 fighter that had either been a Champion(when they fought), or at the very least fought in a Championship fight. His record might soon look different, now that he has to face Top-5 contenders for the rest of his career.

This sort of thread always seems disingenuous. Absolutely arguable that people GOAT Khabib (and everyone really, in this 'what-have-you-done-lately' fight culture) too soon. And highly arguable that he's got a padded record. But throughout the thread it seems arguable that your thread is a two-fer with the added intent of praising Connor McGregor at the same time. As though by debating Khabib you can celebrate Conrad at the same time. If you're comparing lightweight resumes between them, there is no debate, Conner has no business being compared to him.

If this is not the intent of the thread, I apologize (but I doubt you'd answer honestly - that would be part of the goal), but Khabib is the champ. He's never lost - he had a harder road to the belt than Conrad ever did - who never had contender fight and got a title shot after 50/50ing with Nate and a second after beating a bus.

Time will tell that is true, but 17-0 (removing "cans" if that's the correct disrespectful term to use) is still no loses. But trying to discredit his best wins? Check Aldo's stats these days and he's Conor's best win. Its all debatable - but the "0" in 27-0 really isn't.

A lot of people nitpicking Khabib's record and comparing it to Conor's seems to have completely erased the fact that the two already fought and resume's didn't matter that night. Just like how Aldo's resume didn't keep him from getting knocked out in 13 seconds when he fought Conor.

I don't see the point of examining Khabib's resume under a microscope. Did he not just beat Conor in a dominant fashion? Is he not 27-0?

Being 27-0 is an amazing feat regardless of the level of competition. No one has ever achieved the same record yet.

Conor is 2-2 at LW... Jesus. I can see Barboza or RDA beating Conor whereas Khabib mauled them (both top 5).
Neither of them would beat Aldo, one of them lost to Alvarez who Conor starched, so nope.

RDA was on a 5 fight UFC win streak before the Khabib fight and coming off of a win over Cerrone.

He then went on another 5 fight UFC win streak after the Khabib loss, KOing Bendo just 4 months after losing to Khabib and winning the LW title less than a year after losing to Khabib.

If you want to throw shade at Khabib then there is material there to work with but discrediting the RDA win does not stand up against the facts.

You need to work on your reading comprehension.

Throw shade???

I don't think Khabib is the LW GOAT yet but he's on his way, I think of LW's in the UFC he's tied with Ferguson for most top 10 wins(not counting guys passed their primes like Jim Miller and BJ Penn).

Based on what, Lee's vast record against top 10 guys?

or getting finished repeatedly?
I can't tell if you're being serious... Who would you say is better? Rda? I mean if you say rda we could at least discuss it otherwise the rest are pretty average fighters or guys I am certain would lose to Kevin.

lets talk about resume when hes coming close to retirment, for now the way he dominated his opponents make his resume better.

Even if you exclude Tony Fergusons several losses, Khabib still has better wins than him.

Ferguson finishes guys like Tibau, Barboza and Trujillo inside the distance.

The only win that would put Khabib ahead is Conor coming off a two year lay off but Tony has great wins over Pettis and Kevin Lee.

Conor first fought in the UFC in April of 2013. By November of 2016, he had already fought 10 times, and had become a was a 2 Division Champion(And fought in 3 different weight classes).

Khabib first fought in the UFC, in January of 2012. By November of 2016, he had fought 8 times. But he only fought once against a Top 5 ranked opponent(RDA), despite being ranked in the Top 10, since 2013(Top 5 since June of 2014).

Do you think that Khabib's opponents(Besides Conor's and RDA's) resumes look anything close to this??????

All you did was point out that Conor had a gifted title shot.

Conor beat Dennis Siver for his title shot. He did not have one top 5 win before his title shot. Khabib did.

Thanks for pointing that out though.

Yes, the RDA Khabib beat was (and is) a vastly more accomplished fighter than Kevin Lee.
Khabib also beat some real estate broker who beat Lee.

Lee has a grand total of one top 10 win. Guy is good, but has yet to prove he is great.

Has there ever been a UFC Champion who won the belt by beating somebody who wasn’t even ranked in the top 10???

upload_2018-12-4_20-58-25.jpeg

Khabib has been ranked in the top 10 for 5 years(2013).

Conor Did this in 3.5 years.

And my point isn’t to deminish Khabib’s ability. He is obviously an amazing fighter. I have never said that he wasn’t. I am a fan of his.

But Khabib has been ranked in the top 10 since 2013. Why hasn’t he fought more quality opponents??? The inability of his fans to admit this fact, is the reason that I made this thread.
