well yeah, it's because he's old. but he was never confident in fighting at the HW division. otherwise he wouldn't have said what he said when asked about fighting DC at HW, and he wouldn't have said in 2013 he was going to move up and then wait 10 yrs before he actually did.

Fact is that Fedors resume across his first 33 fights is more impressive than Jones first 31 fights.

Fedor did that in 10 years and fought the same number of top 10 opponents and legends, if not more. He also did it as the smaller fighter where as Jones has had the height and/or reach advantage in every fight, pissed hot multiple times, admits to cheating with eye pokes and has taken 17 years and still hasn't even fought 33 fights.

These are straight facts.

except i never said Jon HAD to do that. GSP's MW run and Jon Jones HW run aren't the same. GSP didn't try to hold the division hostage for years, GSP didn't try to say the #1 contender at MW didn't deserve to fight him, GSP didn't try to handpick an ancient MW who hadn't fought for years to defend his title against. GSP won the title, and then dropped it.

he definitely does not have the hardest resume at HW. what he did at LHW, what does that matter in this conversation? you say he has no memes of him getting KO'd or strangled, but his career isn't over and those things could definitely happen to him if he fought Aspinall. there's also TONS of memes of him being a drug addict and a steroid addict. when LeBron James memes about you ducking Aspinall, you really hit the big time with your bullshitery.

i don't know why you defend a guy who actively kills the sport you're supposed to be a fan of. but i guess you love Jon Jones more than you love watching fighting. you rather watch him sit on his ass then actually do something.
 
Imagine the pairing Jones + Abdulmanap (+ Greg).

Jones is already the best in-fighter of all time and Abdulmanap is a cage wrestling wizard.

Prime Jones with added sambo skills would look even more unstoppable.

Jones doesn't need to do anything else to establish how great he was. The Jones that ruined a mostly-in-his-prime Shogun might be the best performance I've ever seen all around.

He doesn’t look like that anymore, or even a similar version. It's utterly bizarre to me that people don't want to admit it. The Jones that we saw vs Stipe isn't beating Aspinall. Now, maybe Jon knew he didn't need to be peak and will look much better if he accepts a fight with Tom. He'd better be if he wants to give himself a chance.

It says a lot about how good Jones is that he can show up and look slow and sluggish with a beer gut and beat most HW's when he has been a LHW his whole career. But that's not happening vs Aspinall. Jones will need to channel some 2011 Jones with added bulk to beat Aspinall.

I agree with you, but the only one who can compare to Jones is really Silva. At age 37, Jones is finishing the last guy to hold a title and the other guy who contended for the title at a weight class above. GSP fought Bisping and left quickly. Fedor fell off before he was even 35 I think. Even Silva started slipping with the Chael performances.

Still Jones wrestling looks pretty good at HW, especially compared to the rest of the division right now. Aspinall has defended 2 takedowns in round 1 against a last minute Spivac without a training camp, and that's the extent of his TDD history in the UFC. Yet people have shrugged it off as "well he's a huge guy with size to make up for it" or "he's a BJJ blackbelt". To me, that's the bigger question of the potential matchup. Jones has dealt with faster power boxers before, but Aspinall has dealt with no one the level of Jones wrestling. Even Blaydes didn't shoot a single takedown in both fights with Aspinall.
