Khabib Nurmagomedov has got the best mma record I've seen outside of Jon Jones with his dq loss. You guys think he'll be next champ?

If it was not for injuries he would be the champ already IMO, hope he bounces back well from the lay off

The question is can he stay healthy.
He has the skill.

He should be if he stops breaking 3x between fights.

I'm excited to see him face top 10 fighters. I know he beat Rda but Rda has changed a lot since then & Khabib wasn't able to mount much offense in that fight. He kind of just got take downs & held position. Other than that fight he has yet to face top 10 comp. I want to see him fight tony, cerrone, Diaz, & alvarez. I definitely think he has the potential to be champ.

I'm not going to judge until I see him face Ferguson. IMO Ferguson is a nightmare matchup for him- more powerful and diverse striking, ridiculous pace and cardio, above average wrestling, opportunistic submission game, and when he gets taken down he has active hips, nasty elbows, and is just generally not an easy guy to hold down.

He has to beat Phillip Miller first, they're both just about as ready for that.

He is hugely overrated, the only reason he gets hype is because of his record 22-0 and the fact he keeps talking and talking but doesnt actually fight. but in my opinion he is not undefeated because he got beat by Tibau, he lost that fight, he is 21-1, I don't care what the judges thought, they did many bizarre decisions on that card, no way Khabib won that fight.

Yep. Injuries are the only thing in his way. I do hope Ferguson is able to find a way to beat him though.

He would have to come in his old form after the layoff and then avoid injury for a few more fights to have any chance at it. He certainly showed the talent that would lead one to believe he probably could hold the belt. Hell he beat the champ. Everything is always evolving tho so that doesn't translate to he would beat the champ again tomorrow. Let's see him beat Ferguson in a dominating fashion and then talk.

His record's padded af compared to Jones'.

Dos anjos was arguably a top 5 ufc lw when khabib beat him. He shut Dos Anjos down completely so I´d say he´s proven how incredibly skilled he is. It´s hard to look good against a fighter like Khabib. Now that he´s had a lot of injuries it will be interesting to see how he performs in his return.

my tiny brain cannot remember the last time khabeeb fight

Sounds like a great fight for both of them then.

I don´t think that Khabib has to beat Ferguson in a dominating fashion. Looking at Fergusons last fights he might be better than Dos Anjos right now. Fergusons showed an incredible development in his last fights. If Khabib can edge out a close decision against a monster like Ferguson after his layoff I would hold him as a favorite in an eventual title fight against Dos Anjos.

So would I. But to get the haters off his case he needs to I should say.

Less so for Khabib IMO. Khabib's game is pretty much 100% centered on getting into the clinch and working takedowns and maintaining control; Tony has KO power, submissions, and the wrestling (and overall craftiness) to at least stifle the wrestling of Khabib.

All that being said, I'm a fan of Khabib, the guy has a takedown from practically every position. It's impressive. I just think Tony is a bad stylistic matchup for him. The inactivity is also a big x-factor.
