Khabib is the best LW ever?

I think both Tony and Khabib would beat Penn prime-to-prime.

That being said, peak LW Penn (2008-2009) had the greatest difference between him and his closest peers IMO. I don't view Khabib vs. his peers in quite the same way at the present time. But Khabib certainly has the potentially to have a longer career with more quality wins since he works significantly harder than BJ did.

Conor is more of a featherweight

I have no reason to believe he's elite at 155

Beating Alvarez is like gsp beating Bisping....it's a gatekeeper accidentally holding a title

He put Diaz on his ass numerous of times and smashed Eddie

I just think he hurts Tony early and gets the job done.
Obviously if Tony is still there by the third then he would turn on the heat and punish conor.

I have always fancied Conor in this fight. Certainly a lot more than a fight with Khabib

We don't really have a clear GOAT in the LW division like we have in the others weight classes.

Khabib is a contender but he needs more longevity, more Ws.. defending vs Dustin then Tony then another could get him to be seen as the clear guy for that choice.

He had just 1 defense and already has this feel of invincibility that's a good sign of Goatnes. Bonus that 0 looks sweet in his record.

Penn pretty much never gassed at LW

I think he was 1-2 at LW in 5 round fights but would need to check, he did have a few finishes though. I just think Khabib puts a pace on him he wouldn't be able to handle.

We will never find out lol

Obviously, but we 'can' speculate we are only exchanging opinions here. I think Khabibs pressure will wear him down and he will break him. I love BJ, he is one of my favorites ever bro. I don't say this lightly I'm just expressing an opinion.

Maybe p4p but not LW GOAT at this point.

To cement his LW GOATness, he needs to rack up consecutive title defenses.

If he beats poirier and Tony, then yes.

So who do you think has a better claim to be the best LW of all time right now?

Best record, or actual best fighter?

Penn, Benson, and Edgar still edge him out in terms of who has the better records.

Best fighter. Khabib has had injuries which sucks but I feel Khabib beats all three of those you listed in their primes.

Defenses = Squat. If defenses mattered Rousey > Nunes.

Not in that division and in not in general WMMA.

But in places like freaking LW a solid and competitive division they sure matter.

Usually a tittle defense means you went up against a very high level fighter on a multiple win streak, means you are studied intensively, means that you are fighting for the opportunity to keep making a lot of money *champ pay/opportunities/PPVs etc*, the contender wanting to change his life etc etc it's everything it's the ultimate test, each defense carries intense pressure and means way more then just another fight this is why championship bouts 'usually' are special.

Then yea you get misses like freaking Lewis challenging for the belt or those WMMA soccer moms that wilted mentally the moment a press guy asked them 2 questions and the spotlight hit their eyes. Yes exceptions do exist but normally they are that exceptions.

I can agree with that.

But really, if prime Edgar was also 5'10 and 175+lbs, I think he'd win. That's irrelevant though.

Let's see those scales from some of the first 20 fights.
