Khabib & GOAT's

Khabib is GOAT because :-

1. Hes the most compared to, just search for "Opponent X is higher in the goat list than Khabib"
2. Appears in every MT rushmore by every GOAT (Jon, St-pierre, Silva etc) . St-Pierre was obsessesed with him back when he was active, says only Khabib will bring him out of retirement.
3. He should have been champ since 2015 when he beat Dos Anjos, thats almost 9 years ago, who is going to trouble him today? Makachev? Leon? Belal who admitted Khabib was toying with him during training?

That doesn't make him higher on the list than guys that have double digit title defenses.

That could be an argument for him being higher on the list than Penn however not higher than Jones, GSP, Silva, MM, Aldo, etc... 3 title defenses TOTAL isnt enough to be GOAT

The classic era fallacy. The sport has evolved as a whole. That just means that guys like Silva and GSP are even more impressive because they were lightyears ahead of their competition.

Matt Hughes is a very large WW who often cut from over 200 pounds. He was known for his grappling and insane strength

THIS DIDNT HAPPEN! You cant use things that DID NOT HAPPEN to help your argument.

This is very impressive! However when you look at Jones, Silva, GSP, Aldo, MM and their first couple wins as champs they were just as dominant. Khabib just retired at 31 before people could figure out his game.
The simple fact that you cannot agree with any one of these just lends color that you’re a hater and nothing to do with reason. Plain and simple.

I have been racking my brain and I just cant fathom why Khabib gets so much respect? I saw Aspinall give his mount rushmore for the GOAT's and he put Khabib in there which is so crazy to me. If I had to pick 4 of the GOAT's it would have to be Jones, GSP, Silva, and Demetrious Johnson with Jose Aldo sitting right there outside of the top 4. All four of those men were extremely dominant during their reign and all have double digit title defenses. GSP and Jones were even champs at 2 weight classes and both Silva & DJ competed at the next weight class up.

If were talking about Khabib, yes he is 29-0 but only 13 of those were in the UFC and his opponents before that were horrendous and hand picked by his father. His title reign, albeit very dominant was incredibly short. He only defended the title 3 times and he didn't beat a champion to become the champ. He fought Al Iaquinta for the belt (we all know). If we just look at the lightweight division.. BJ Penn, Frankie Edgar, and Benson Henderson all have the same exact number of title defenses as Khabib. There are a ton of people outside of that division that also have more than 3. I do think Khabib could have been considered in this conversation if he was still fighting today but retiring at age 31 with only 3 title defenses is not even to warrant him being in this discussion imo.
The way Khabib beat everyone and looked almost invincible was insane. When you think about Javier saying how he mopped the floor with Islam, i mean, there's no one else like him. All the other goat's looked/were beaten in their prime. Khabib was a monster!

Khabib is definitely one of the best, but I can't put him as GOAT.

Didn't the current WW Campion, on an 11-fight win streak just admit that Khabib plays with him?

The truth is, Khabib is a once-in-a-lifetime fighter.

There has never been anyone this dominant and MMA history.

Even an insufferable, egomaniac MIDDLEWEIGHT, like Luke Rockhold, admits he cannot "play with Khabib."

Khabib = the real deal.

Your "dominant" needs more context.

Khabibi wouldn't go above LIGHTweight in UFC competition.*

That would be the test -- not anecdotal tales from the gym.

155'ers <lol> <{cum@me}>

*catchweight aside

Do you really think he would lose?
Yes

Why? Because of history.

Did you think GSP would lose to Serra?
Did you think Ronda would lose to Holms?
Did you think Fedor would lose to Big Foot?
Did you think Adesanya would lose Strickland?
Did you think Usman would lose to Edwards?
Did you think Rockhold would lose to Bisping?

No you didn’t but it didn’t matter what you thought.

Eventually … everyone gets beat if they stay long

The improved Dustin that lost to Islam maybe beats Khabib.
Maybe Volk beats Khabib.
Maybe Charles beats Khabib.

We will never know since he left.

He's a manufactured story for the Middle Eastern shareholders. Padded record, judging error in the Tibau fight, a string of featherweight opponents coupled with persistent weight-making problems. None of his wins aged well and he's also P4P#1 in pulling out of fights. Of course, the only real reason he appeared in GOAT discussion is his win over McGregor, who was the consensus GOAT among mentally deficient demographic just before Khabbi arrived.

Tom, Jones, GSP, and a whole host of elite fighters have Khabib either in their Top 5 GOAT rankings, most influential lists, or generally hold him in high esteem.

You will have to ask them why, but I'll take a guess. I think they know exactly the nature of the sport. They know that MMA is a game of inches. They know that even a regional level fighter can shut your lights or catch you in a sub, and many great fighters have had that happen to them.

They are also probably not ideologically biased against him so they will not try to spin certain events during his career in a negative light without context i.e he won the belt off of a real estate agent. They probably recognize how hard it is to have your opponent change 4 or 5 times before a fight. The athletes in the cage, on the pitch, the field, etc see the sport differently than we do because they have the experience.

I'm not saying Tom or GSP or Jones opinions are 100%. They are opinions after all. Khabib statistically isn't in my Top 5 GOATs due to lack of defenses, but I don't lack the imagination to realize why actual practitioners of the sport hold him in high regard.

Not being able to fathom why elite fighters, legends, and GOATs of the sport hold a dominant fighter in high regard just means you are vastly underestimating Khabib and his career.

Or as the posters who are unable to pass a simple CAPTCHA like to say, it's because all these fighters are (secretly) Muslim. Or it's all PR. Or something.

Being a multi-time champion in a weight-class just means you lost the belt at one point. Also half his title defences were against a fat light-heavyweight who was close to retirement.
really weird people love nganous resume
but even weirder stipe beat them 5 years younger

i mean do you guys chery pick the fighters you defend?
pretty weird you give credit to nganou fighting the ancient version of overeem jds and many more
like they where legit on their primes

but wont give stipe credit beating them 5-6 years earlier..
